Full version $299.99
at Steinberg site
On sale by Steinberg does it go for $150?
https://new.steinberg.net/spectralayers/
and when SpectraLayers Pro 7 is released you get it for free if you purchase the Samplitude Suite.
When might SpectraLayers Pro 7 be released?
This can be used with any DAW?
BTW it is ARA (2?) capable.
Even if SL6 is available on sale for $150 at Steinberg the upgrade to V7 will at least be $50 and possibly $100.
So it may be best to get the Samplitude Pro X5 Suite for $249 now.
But then again will V7 live up to my expectations?
Ok V6 is almost there so this in not such a big issue.

In my mind it is the dishing out the $$$.
Is Samplitude Pro X5 Suite on sale elsewhere for less?
Perhaps later this year it may sell for $199.
What's a guy to do?

I dont know for X5, but it was for X3/X4 so I absolutely expect it to be.
ARA2 support is the clue

Maybe he's referring to the suite upgrade price.
If history repeats itself the suite will sell for $199 at the end of the year

Not entirely. Cakewalk comes with an ARA2 plugin (DrumReplacer) that only works with Cakewalk.

Hi all,

I recently contacted Magix for the fourth or fifth time in the past year about numerous problems hosting VST3s, and I also posted on their Community forum. They admitted that they are still having problems hosting VST3s and said that these problems were "not exactly reproducible." My experience is that they are intermittent, which suggest some type of timing or sequence problem such as can be caused by calling IEditController from the audio thread. I have repeatedly suggested that this may be the problem, but they have never specifically responded about this possibility.

Anyway, if you are thinking about getting Pro X5, you may need to use VST2s until further notice.

Specific pluins that seem to cause problems are SampleTank4 (transposes MIDI notes upon Save/Load), BlueCat Audio Axiom (Amp B sometimes non-functional for Cleany Tail preset), MeldaProduction (MVintageRotary and MCabinet usually permanently bypassed when inserted into normal Track; usually works in Aux bus and can sometimes successfully be moved to a normal track). Others have reported problems with Izotope Neutron 3 and Ozone 9, Vienna Ensemble Pro, Imoxplus Respiro, plugins from Waves and Acustica Audio and more that were unspecified.

Edited to add: Kuassa Efektor VST3 Plugins (attempts to resize plugin window result in shrinkage of the window down to almost nothing in both x and y direction; regardless of the direction of mouse movement, window shrinks in size), PSP Audioware's PSP 2445 EMT Reverb VST3 plugin (scans but never appears in plugin browser). Both of these work fine in Cubase 10.5 Elements, Reaper 5, and Sound Forge Pro 13.

To be fair, Magix isn't the only manufacturer still struggling to properly host VST3s, but most of the major-league manufacturers are much further along than Magix.

Dave Clark

Do other Melda plugins work correctly?
If so worth contacting the dev. Due to the framework they use theoretically all plugins should have the same issues. So there could be something Voj can fix

Hi VariKusBrainZ,

For the very reason that you mentioned, it's highly unlikely that any of them work correctly, but I recently tested these two so mentioned only them.

I contacted MeldaProduction last year just to let them know about the problem, but by then I already knew that it was a host problem. I was hoping that Vojtech or somebody else may contact Magix to put more important pressure on them (!) , but don't know if they ever did or not.

But thanks for the suggestion. If it would do any good, I would contact MeldaProduction again, but don't want to annoy them. From personal experience, it's annoying to be bugged by users who assume that all problems are your problem.

If anyone purchased the Upgrade can you confirm if Spectralayers 6 and SOUND FORGE Pro are full retail products?
If it needs an e-licenser then seemingly SpectraLayers is the full version!

Post

Hi agharta,

It appears to me that these are the full retail versions, but Magix is the only one that can actually confirm this. It would be a pain in the neck to maintain two slightly different versions, so I can't really think of any reason why they wouldn't be the same.

The question is if Spectralayers 6 and SOUND FORGE can be opened and have full functionality in a DAW other than Samplitude.

The question, as I read it this morning, is whether or not these programs can be started outside of Samplitude as standalones. The answer in both cases is yes.

But to answer your version of the question:

Spectralayers VST3 shows up, for example, in Reaper 5 and Cubase 10.5 Elements.

I'm not sure what Sound Forge Pro 13 opened and fully functional in Reaper means other than, obviously if it can be opened as a standalone, you can open it from Reaper, for example (just did that).
