A buddy of mine who's been doing tech work since the 60's Still uses the same pitch pipe he got in '64 to match intonation. He's got tones of electronic gizmos but prefers his ears. Cant' fault him on his accuracy.

I'm looking for a solution for the secure mounting of a miniature 5K trimpot inside a guitar control cavity, so an 8K humbucker (I just converted it to 4 conductor wires from a 2) can be split to less than ½ and send a variable amount to ground, so not resulting in a weak 4k single coil.
I suppose I could use a fixed resistor, but variable pot gives a wider choice of sounds.

Any ideas? Stripboard mounted to a piece of wood?

Licensed Floyd Rose tremolo intonation tools, any suggestions that don't require the selling an organ or KY jelly to purchase?
Trem Lock

I have one installed on my Charvel Pro Mod
Simply loosen the bolt when done.
The other method (cheap way) get an old cover a side of it with cloth glued on it and slide it under till the bridge is parallel with the body.
I do that all the time when changing strings on my Jackson Dinky.

You'd be better off with a wedged piece of wood that fits on the underside between the plate and the body. The Noodlist wrote: Sat Sep 05, 2020 1:54 pm

Came up with this for a variable split inside the wiring cavity. My usual shoddy wiring.

Resistor woes (I'm a novice and colour blind). I read a 3.6k Ohm using the bands, but not with multimeter. Any advance?

that's yellow purple orange
4, 7, 3 zeros
so 47000, 47K
gold is 5% so on the edge of tolerance (44650)

That must be a bind.
I've heard noises resistors will eventually be stamped as capacitors are with the actual value, I guess the codes date back to when there weren't printers capable of that, just stuck, tradition etc etc ...

Reverted back to old multimeter. I got the inaccurate one for the continuity beep when messing with a patch bay.The Noodlist wrote: Tue Oct 12, 2021 2:56 pm Resistor woes (I'm a novice and colour blind). I read a 3.6k Ohm using the bands, but not with multimeter. Any advance?

Laney LC30II preamp sockets as loose as a floozy. I've noticed ceramic sockets are as tight as a duck's rear end.
