We developers need to know if there is still a significant demand on 32-bit vst-plugins. Thanks for taking part in the survey!

64-bit only here, since years. No need for 32-bit plugins or hosts.

Provide a final, stable 32 bit for your customers and just move on.

32 bit is a waste of time

I don't think anyone should expect 32bit plugins to be supported in 2020.
Signatures are so early 2000s.

I'd even go as far as to say that developers don't have to provide anything but 64-bit VST3 (or Mac specific formats) nowadays.

Are there still any 32-bit hosts? I think most DAW's are 64-bit now and some have an internal bridge for 32-bit plugins.
Ofcourse there will always be people still using an ancient 32-bit only OS on a probably even more ancient computer, but I think if you want to go forward it's not worth spending development time and money on outdated and obsolete technology. That will only hold you back.

Question is: are these old timers a relevant customer group spending enough on new software to justify the cost of development and maintenance?

32-bit host but it supports 64-bit plugins.

In my opinion, most probably not.

There are a few piece of gold vstis that are available only 32bit. Hg fortune synths, firebird..

But generally I only use x64 plugins.

I rarely used 32bit VSTs this year in Bitwig (support both), but the last one I have uninstalled yesterday! Genesis Pro. I use only 64bit now I use mostly S1.
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

As soon as it becomes obvious that an technology or even only plugin becomes obsolete (e.g. not maintained anymore), I stop using it. So no 32bit for me for a long time now. There’s enough choice out there for replacement.

Yes.

As always there are those who couldnt care less about about anything but their own needs, but some of us have good reasons for using 32bit, and we definitely appreciate not being left standing in the rain only because other people prefer 64bit.

In my view, as long as there isnt anything that technically prevents it, there is absolutely no reason not to have both and give everyone what they need.

I wonder what's a good reason to still use a 32-bit DAW in 2020.
