You mean "being left standing in the rain" by the advancement of technology?ENV1 wrote: Tue May 05, 2020 10:18 am we definitely appreciate not being left standing in the rain only because other people prefer 64bit.
Are you still using 32-bit plugins on PC?

"Because I want to use plugin XY which is irreplaceable for me, and you're evil when you don't serve me."
Quite ironic when you at the same time blame others for not caring about anything but their own needs. Actually, it's the other way around. 64-bit people have no reason to insist on 64-bit only, while 32-bit people always have a reason to insist to have their obsolete format supported.

It's kinda silly to not update your DAW to 64 bit because of a few plugins. If someone absolutely still wants to use these plugins, I think they're better off using something like jBridge. That way they can run all current 64 bit plugins and still keep using the few 32 bit plugins they can't do without.

Since finally migrating my last DAW system to Windows 10 couple of months ago, I'm fully 64-bit. Used this as an opportunity to weed out any 32-bit plugins I had left on my system. The price is that some old projects will brake as I had some plugins that have never been ported to 64-bit.
The only 32-bit app related to music making that I'm still using is Soundforge Pro v11 that I use for sample editing.

I am on 64 bit. I'd love to use some 32 bit plugs, primarily the HG Fortune ones, which are irreplaceable. I can't. They don't work. It makes me sad but that's life. And no, JBridge (worst investment I ever made) doesn't work well. Constant crashes.
Point is, life goes on. And if the majority of the world is on 64 and there is a very small 32 bit consumer base, it may not be worth the developer's time to maintain 32 bit versions. Of course only they can make that determination.
This has nothing to do with selfishness on either part. It's technological advancement. If we want the newest stuff, or stuff that only works on 64 bit (many sample bases libraries) you need to upgrade out of necessity. Plain and simple. By doing that you may have to give up certain other things. Oh well, that's also life. Nobody owes anybody anything, especially if it's not financially worth while.
Yes, I miss HG Fortune stuff. No, I will not give up my VSL and EWQL libraries.
We make choices and we live with them.
Again, nobody owes us anything.

I am using 64-bit by and large, but I still have some 32-bit plugins that will never see a 64-bit version that are still great or irreplaceable (i.e. VAZ Modular, Spektral Delay, Pro-53, and a few others).
Thankfully Reaper has the best and most stable bit-bridge there is so I can just keep on using them without worry.

Some people are just unbelievable.
Remember the time when 32bit was the norm and 64bit was little more than a novelty?
Please make us a 64bit version, PLEASE.
Did they care one bit about the extra work that meant for the developer?
Of course not. Gimme da 64bit, no matter what it takes.
And now that 64bit is more established, look at some of the crap that one has to listen to only because they say that there is room for both. Nobody ever said that devs should go back to 32bit. Nobody ever said that there shouldnt be 64bit versions too. And yet some people are like they would be losing something if a developer is considerate enough to give users of both architectures what they need. In my opinion thats pathetic and only goes to show what egotists some people are. Not that im surprised, of course, its just another expression of the world of today.
Carry on.

Why support an outdated architecture?ENV1 wrote: Tue May 05, 2020 11:03 am Some people are just unbelievable.

Nothing to do with being considerate, supporting 32bit would be a waste of resources.
Why release music on cassette tapes if only a small number of people still listen to them?

I bought Cubase because somebody told me it was the best (ha, ha). I've been using it for 6 years. I know it inside and out. I can't switch to another DAW without going through a massive learning curve that I am just not willing to go through at my age. So I am stuck with Cubase.Distorted Horizon wrote: Tue May 05, 2020 10:59 amAh ok.

Ever thought about that that might have been because, one day, everything will be 64-bit? Like... the thing that is happening now.ENV1 wrote: Tue May 05, 2020 11:03 am Some people are just unbelievable.

Damn those people who wanted flat screens. That took away so much manpower from developing better tube TV's.

Well, I just started up my Mixcraft Pro 64-bit and loaded some of the HGFortune synths.
Everything works
I don't really know, why Steinberg (and some other big names too) can't write a decent 32-bit bridge
