Have only taken 3 pics with it (not about my dick (yet)), but I can pretty much say that I love it as much as I love my new Olympus

I wanted to add a little diversity to my setup. Way too much reliance on ITB stuff. I have never owned a hardware synth so I decided this year that would change. Last Saturday Fedex delivered my Hydrasynth. I really like the sound and it's layout is easy to understand. Big thanks to loopop, Daniel Fisher on YT for those in depth reviews.
fwiw the runner-ups were:
Medusa
Deluge
Wavestate
minilogue xd
Hydrasynth w/o keys + Novation 49SLmkiii
Sledge 2.0 Black
Argon8
Jupiter-xm
Peak

I preordered the Make Noise Ø-Ctrl from Detroit Modular (the 10% discount code applied, yay)
I had 2x Pressure Points with Brains for a while in 2018, and liked the flow of working with them but didn't like the way the touchplates reacted with my dry skin, or the amount of HP they took up. This controller is basically that, improved, plus a clock and the dynamic gate/envelope stuff, in a clever standalone package. I couldn't resist. I won't sell my SQ-1 right away because it might still be good for side sequences etc. but the Ø-Ctrl is going to take the place of honor right in front of the modular. Might sell my Touché SE though since I haven't been using it all that much.
Still waiting on my ship notification for Disting EX. Patience would be a lot easier if I didn't know people had gotten theirs already from the same shop (Control in NY).

I feel lucky to have directly traded my Filter 8 for an Angle Grinder. It's not that I dislike Filter 8 at all, but I like VCFQ and Ripples more for "normal" filter sounds and Angle Grinder's got the edge (so to speak) on features. The one thing I really liked the Filter 8 for was phasing, but eh, there are decent phaser VSTs and E520 will kick butt at that task.
Someone claims they've been using Angle Grinder as a PLL since it's got comparators in it, so maybe I will let go of my A-196 too... we'll see.
Got my 16n Faderbank back from repair, now with linear faders (yay) and I'm going to keep it covered to protect them from dust. Also got my ship notification for Disting EX -- the second batch for Control had been held up in customs.

I got my Waldorf mod1 and dvca1 yesterday... didn't have room as I've not yet got my next rail built
so I had to remove a few things to check them out.
They were part of the new exploration with generate3. Although I got g3 a few days ago, I had a patch going so didn't really explore it.. I did get it making some amazing "wet fart" sounds.. yeah.. I can still be a child..
I was to give you a full report on G3.. well TZ is all new to me... however, apart from those "wet fart" sounds, today I have got it doing what I wanted... big beefy, timbrel rich, vibrant bass
I added some drums and maybe will post a quick recording to demo this.
BTW..the dvca1 is so lush and analog.. also has Waldorf's interpenetration of a low pass gate.. very nice.
Looked at that Disting.. I have 2x mk4s... and although it sure looks interesting, I'm going to pass... for the moment.
Actually, I made a request for my "non" patented git_counter... a trigger/gate counter that would output a gate or trigger after "user_param" count... gate held high for "user_count"... don't see that coming now

Os is still updating the mk4 -- he just added a granular pitch shifter to it, and then also updated the EX firmware to include it too. So maybe you'll get the counter after all
It'd be pretty easy to write in Monome Teletype though. One way would be:
(the 5 is the counter and 3 is the gate length)
(fixed typo)
I love Teletype

Code: Select all
IF EZ X: TR 1 0
EVERY 5: X 3

I think you're right, I've been getting better at it.foosnark wrote: Sat Apr 18, 2020 9:30 pm I've been using an Elecom "HUGE" trackball exclusively for a while, including for games. I think it's just a matter of what you're used to.
The Elecom trackballs I Googled seem to be thumb operated, interesting.
BTW, I've been using a vertical mouse (from Trust) for a while, I'd like a 'vertical' trackball (if that would even work). Apart from that, and the lack of mappable buttons, I like my Kensington well so far.

I really prefer finger trackballs over thumb ones -- it's easier to keep up continuous motion with multiple fingers.
Kensington Pro Fit Ergo might work though, it's a 60 degree angle which seems to be pretty natural. I'd even be tempted to try it except I don't want to add something else (one way or the other) to our bin full of unused keyboards and mice

Already picked up a Virus Ti2 Desktop, and a pair of Neumann KH120s..... Really trying to financially factor out a Fantom 7 purchase as well.

Keystep Pro - it's absolutely fantastic!
Will probably sell Cirklon, Octopus, Minibrute 2, Deepmind 12 - and maybe get a DSI OB6 instead of the DM12. I really like the sound of the DM12 but it's too damn deep for what I want to do. I just need a great sounding poly with some balls.

This year I have only purchased an Arturia KeyStep Pro, Elektron Model:Cycles, Elektron Model:Samples and Roland Boutique JU-06A, if I recall correctly. I also have a Behringer TD-3 black on order to pair with the silver version I presently own.
