I just plunked down $119 for the complete Pettinhouse bundle via Paypal. My account was charged, but got a "transaction not authenticated" error message, and didn't get anything from Pettinhouse so far. Pretty bummed. I emailed the business. Hope they're still a business.
Edit: they got back in touch with me and all is well.

MTG Trumpet :
https://www.dropbox.com/s/aiwuy7fcktnqf ... z.rar?dl=0

Trumpet 1 has 5 velocity layers. Trumpet 2 only hard and soft
3 (fake) round-robin using neighbor keys
Legato using cc 64 (sustain pedal is turned off)

*So, I decided using just "Samples" for the folder name

Yes, just "Samples" as name for the sample directory of the MTG Trumpet is fine. I guess most people will have their own properly named sample directory structure anyway, so they will put the samples and mappings in a folder that indicates the name of the sampleset anyway, something like

Code: Select all

C:\samplelibraries\sfz\MTGtrumpet\Samples

@Kazi7
The Tim Kahn Rhodes is missing 21 samples and can't be found anywhere.
It supposed to have 73 notes, but only 52 available in the archive.
So it couldn't be finished as a complete sfz instrument.
And I think it's better to remove it from your OP list?
However, I have the unfinished sfz file here :
https://www.dropbox.com/s/17rgziry1cqh9 ... t.sfz?dl=0
Just in case you want to test it
I did not test the unfinished Tim Kahn Rhodes yet, could you tell me which samples are missing? Is it the whole upper range or the whole lower range of keys or are samples in between missing?

Today I'm going to do another round of uploads, please keep the Dropboxes alive for now. I'm going to change the initial post once everything is uploaded to the Github, to clean up the thread a bit. Thank you for your work Kinwie!

It's the middle key range. I've browsed through the tim kahn pages at freesound but can't find them. There are people also comment there, notice some samples are missing.
The samples is in chromatic keys. By strecthing to fill the gap will just result funny sound and not a good way.

Hey I just saw the jazz funk kit thread ressurected. Although there are already available in sfz made by various great people, incl. PLJones. But since I've posted the Xmas Bass, so here I put also my sfz of this kit :
https://www.dropbox.com/s/1l8gcj3z1jejs ... z.rar?dl=0

In the past, there is also a very nice free sounding kit, SamSonor from Sam Greene.
I personally like the kit for medium/ballad tunes.
But now the link to the samples seems gone already.
I have the sfz here, just in case anybody who had the samples will like to use them again :
https://www.dropbox.com/s/bdqea4tfl0ziy ... z.rar?dl=0

I think to have both kits, I did also a mapping myself for the Sam one. I'm about to think it should be useful to send some email to the original distributors and ask if we can share in some way with some license those no more supported packages.

Yes, it's a great idea. Even though those old samples are small in size, but they are sounds really good.
I experienced several times when creating songs/demos and cover songs (which now a lot of people do), those kits/samplesets are fit better and done the job quicker since they are lightweight.
I think it is also great if we can ask developers who made free instruments in ncw files to also provide the wav or flac files. Some like SonicCat who have released the free Cajon and piano

That's too unfortunate. Yeah, stretching them too much would defeat the purpose of having a usable quality. Gladly, we already have some electric pianos as an alternative (though you never can have too much electric piano sounds if you ask me).

I read in the free samples threads, Jeff Learman is going to release his old rhodes soundfont in full length samples.
I have his old sf2 converted though.
I think is good to wait his new release

Btw, I'm continue to map the MTG saxes, they are good and a complete set of S-A-T-B, and will use the trumpet's fake rr setting. So thanks Kazi7 for the find. Oh there are also flute, oboe, piccolo, clarinet etc. I'll check the samples, if they are good, will map them also

Unfortunately, the quartertone cymbal samples are provided not in full length, they are cutted halway. Looping them is not a good solution for drum/cymbals instruments. So I pass these pack for sfz-making

Just had a thought,
Soft string spurs indeed deserve an aria-gui
But I think I'm not the right person to ask Plogue for that feature. Should be the sample author himself I think. Or possibly, the crowd users here who love that sample library to make a propose to Plogue?

Post

Yes, it should be the sample author.

Wilkinson Audio has a nice free drumkit, Naked Drums :
https://wilkinsonaudio.com/collections/ ... aked-drums

The kit has 10 round-robin, up to 5 velocity layers and several mic layers

Here is the sfz files for it :
https://www.dropbox.com/s/8w5apu1ty87lp ... z.rar?dl=0

Put the two sample folders :
- Naked_Drums_Metal_Cymbals Samples
- Naked_Drums_Metal_Shells Samples
Into the "Samples" folder

The sfz presets in "Stereo" folder is version for stereo output sforzando :
OH : use only Direct and Overhead mics
CR : use only Direct, Overhead and Close Room mics

Individual mics are in the "Multi" folder. You can load them with 16-instances of sforzando or if you have ARIA Player, you can load each sfz into each slot and save as ariax preset.
The channel/slots are :
1. Kick In
2. Kick Sub
3. Snare Tops
4. Snare Bottom
5. Tom 1
6. Tom 2

To change the key-mapping, open the keymap.txt inside "Data" folder.
Enjoy!!
