The best VST Oscilloscope?

An Oscilloscope (and spectrum analyzer) inside toolchain.

I installed toolchain briefly because I wanted to try its scope, but I couldn't find it in any of the preset folders. There were about a dozen other presets, AcidDevil and whatnot, some of them in nested folders. No scope though.

That does look good. However I could not see any way to get it with the magazine subscription. I assume that the offer has long since expired. So I would have to buy another plugin that I do not need from the same publisher, and they are not cheap, in order to get this 'free' plugin.

Synchronisation

Regarding Oscarizor, there's one way in which oscilloscope plugins differ that I had not considered when I reviewed the ten products. I think this is called Synchronisation. By that I mean the ability of some oscilloscope plugins to synchronise their refresh rates to coincide with a configurable fraction of the DAW's bar. Oscarizor and Oszillos Mega Scope do this. Judging by Sam-U's review above, so does VPS Scope. I do not recall which others do it too.

It sounds great, but is it? What I prefer is for the refreshes to be so smooth and free of annoying jitter that there is no need to synchronise them. This is somehow achieved by MOscilloscope and s(M)exosope, which do not support synchronisation. In that respect, I personally find those two more pleasing to look at than Oscarizor.

I've got another problem, which I suspect will not apply to the great majority of other users, with synchronising the oscilloscope refresh rate to a bar fraction. It presupposes that beats and bars are meaningful segments of the music. Most of the music I produce is free improvisation, where there are no bars and only implied beats that may develop through playing. In my DAW, I show minutes and seconds instead of bars and beats. So, when I use Oscarizor, I set the meaningless beats per minute to as fast as the DAW allows, so that I can make as fine-grained adjustments as possible to Oscarizor's refresh rate. If I have to adjust the refresh rate at all, I would rather do it simply on time. I did not find any oscilloscope plugins that support that method.

SocaLabs works great, although it does introduce some digital noise when monitoring, even when CPU and RAM utilization is low. Obviously not much of an issue as I don't keep the scope on when tracking.
