So IIRC v. 11 adds "Reason as Plugin" but drops ReWire?
Is it :
- possible to have both v10 and v11 installed at the same time (wouldn't wanna lose ReWire for older projects), but
- use only 1 Reason "Factory Soundbank" rather than 1 for each (running out of disk space)?
Thanks!

You can have both versions installed side by side, but every version needs it's own FSB.Winstontaneous wrote: Tue May 05, 2020 10:35 pm So IIRC v. 11 adds "Reason as Plugin" but drops ReWire?

There was a mistake in the standard Reason download we uploaded where the installer actually didn't include AAX on Mac. It's now been replaced and the standard Reason 11 download from your account page or the Trial page is correct.
Real sorry about that, human error in times of long-distance communication.

Run it in low-res mode, like everyone else. Since the assets are low-res, it doesn't make any difference.

Instant buy as soon as interfaces are scaleable.

Yeah, I just bought my daughter a retina iMac so she can use my dormant license of LPX. I installed Reason on it just to see how horrible it would be, and yeah. A non-event in a lower res mode (which I also needed to use for logic). I guess if you’ve got a 13 inch laptop or something it might be awful...
It’s not that I’m not in favor of having a scalable rack, in fact, bring it on. But the howls of unuseability are a bit much IMO

hdpi support matters to some of us.
There are Reason users who are buying Reason 11 for the VST rack ... running inside a DAW on an hdpi screen in that context isn't practical. If they build in the functionality to work in a modern DAW as a plugin they need to support it. Not too many DAW users are using 1080p screens if they can avoid it. Given that this group is now a significant part of their target audience they need to respond. If you are part of the original community and don't care if you ever see hdpi support you are going to have to slide down the bench... you've got company and that company is helping to keep this product viable. You'll be hearing calls for hdpi support until it is implemented.

I get it. So does Reason, since Matthias said somewhere that it is in the pipe. However there is a difference between "this is a feature we need" and vastly overstating the facts of the matter. And to be honest, I bought what has been sold to me on this forum and others. I assumed that when I installed Reason and the rack plugin on my daughter's 5k Mac with a screen the same size as my windows 1080p display, that it would be horrible and tiny and I would see what they meant. I also thought that if I switched to a lower mode that it would look bad due to distortions and stuff. The assumption was incorrect and in fact, I (and my young daughter) couldn't deal with Logic either in full 5k mode, so that's running in lower res mode as well. Since I haven't tried it in an even smaller screen such as a laptop, I'm not speaking for those users.Scotty wrote: Sat May 09, 2020 12:40 am hdpi support matters to some of us.

so, am I calling for Reason Studios to not work on hdpi support? no, and I never have. Am I saying that some of what has been said about it, including your assertion above that not too many DAW users use 1080p screens if they can avoid it, is overstated? Yeah I am.

It’s a bit weird that this is literally the only path where they do not discount. I suppose they’re trying to ‘nudge’ users to the suite though with the discount on that.zvenx wrote: Tue May 05, 2020 1:27 pm I keep hoping everytime there is a sale that they will have a sale on the update from a prior Reason version to Reason 11 (not suite).
Alas the wait continues.

They have in the past. that is what finally moved me from R3 to R8 (even though back then I hardly send Reason anymore)

My comments were not quoting you directly because I was generally responding to the thread not to you personally. If you are to make the opposing argument that DAW users generally prefer 1080p monitors even when given a choice, have at it. I wouldn't want to parse the illogical hoops you'd have to manufacture to back up that claim nor would I be convinced by them. Regardless , life is short so let's not waste each other's time.
I am glad that Reason is modernizing and I love the direction that they are taking. I hope that the developers continue to listen to their new user base and further develop an already compelling product.
