Uncle E, Vurt, fairlyclose, and revvy - thanks for the kind words! I'm just seeing them now.
If every KVR member wrote one review a year we'd have 1340 reviews each day!

Congratulations Hewitt!
Thought I'd get a cheapy electric to leave at my mum's house when I'm doing my stint caring for her. (already took an acoustic...she said my noodling, "sounded lovely"...knew she was starting to lose it a bit now, but ..come on!)
Decided to plump for one of these (in the black naturally, given there's no Fiesta Red option) with all the good reviews, and got it yesterday;

f**king superb guitar for £110. Plays nicely out of the box with intonation and action all good. Dinky little thing and looks cool as f**k.

Was thinking about the 'Bullet' Tele, but went for the Mustang in the end as I'll need to cover a few different things with it, including teh metel.., and can't be arsed lugging the Variax (which weighs a f**king ton..vurt wrote: Tue May 12, 2020 10:41 am nice!

May well get one of the teles at some point though, at these prices it would be rude not to..

I gave in and bought this. It's quite a nice guitar, but the frets need a polishing. There's a scratchiness when I vibrato.

just acquired an used $100 Yammie FG-series acoustic that is very nicely set-up. My plan is to drop a magnetic soundhole pickup in it and use it for busking this summer. I just might need the spare change . . .

I am having second thoughts. It's nice. It's basically what I want. BUT. The fretboard. It's ebony, but it isn't polished, so it is a bit draggy. The frets stick out a bit, they'd need to be filed. I don't know if a good fretboard polishing will improve it. The ebony is probably not top grade. I'll see. The AM size is very comfortable.

That’s about $100-150 worth of fret work to fix. You could do it yourself but you need some specialized tools and a lot of patience. Also, you’ll need to remove and replace the nut.

No, no. I know a guy. He's done the setups on almost all my guitars. He is very reasonable. He does it, at this stage, because he loves it, not because he has to. The question I am working through with him right now is arranging to come pick up the guitar while maintaining social distancing, which should be do-able.
