The new Absynth and FM8 are like Half-Life 3...

There have been many layoffs, including at the headquarters in Berlin, especially because the internal costs are too high.
NI also spoke of a reorganization of products and a uniform platform.
I just know that Reaktor developers and sound designers were not affected by the layoffs. So this area still seems to play a big role at NI.
I don't think NI will close the doors, but they will have to come up with new strategies to remain profitable.

What about all the effect plugins that they released? What about Super-8?Piotr979 wrote: Sat May 09, 2020 1:04 pm I am Native Instruments customer for long time, but for the last 1-2 years I see not to many products/serious updates released by Native Instruments. Last big product is actually Massive X only, rest are trillion of expansions. This is more like tiny 1-2 person working team not like a big player in this industry. Moreover older products haven't got any updates (like FM8, Absynth, Battery). Is this company winding up?
It's obvious that NI releases a lot of sounds and stuff as well, as they have Maschine. But, I really can't see another company which released loads of instruments in the meantime. Pretty normal output, I'd say.

Huh, no, I can't agree with that. I really dislike RP GUI's. They didn't improve aesthetically over time.dune_rave wrote: Sat May 09, 2020 2:49 pm Plus Rob Papen that's a smaller company also created bigger GUI-s for their plugins - currently we can say that Rob Papen plugins look better than NI plugins.

I don't necessarilly think they are in (big) trouble, but I disagree they have a "pretty normal output" right now. Something still seems off to me.chk071 wrote: Sat May 09, 2020 3:18 pmWhat about all the effect plugins that they released? In the last year, they released 2 synths and a effect plugin. That's a lot more than in the time before that, and a lot more than any other company I could think of released in that time.

SonicCharge also managed to develop a zoom function into its plugins.
It's a shame that NI will be the last to accomplish this task.

I can’t see that. Unless they are truly loosing money at a unfathomable rate.
But financially they seem alright.![]()
Can't speak about new unreleased products of course, but the released products I beta test with them are still very much in development...

Now. I was thinking about this after a criticized NI for no resizable GUIs the other day. To defend NI, given the intense User driven nature of Reaktor and Kontakt are we sure it’s easy to resize these interfaces.
For example now only would they need to resize reactor they’d need to resize EVERY Reaktor instrument they made. All while all the Reaktor instruments they didn't make would struggle with limited functionality unless THOSE developers updated them.
The same concept mabye on a larger and even more serious scale applies to Kontakt. With hundreds of libraries built on a Fixed non resizable format.
Maybe I’m not understanding how the GUI aspects of both of these programs work but I think it’s a point I want to at least bring up.
This is an example that only applies to those 2 programs really.
Absynth FM8 and Massive Legacy I’m sure they could build resizable GUIS Like their newest products but they just...don’t touch those products anymore I guess

I think in addition to all of the stuff that native instruments makes they need to start making hardware synths and drum machines, similar to what arturia is doing. Also I think that they should make a standalone maschine. If you look at the length of time that native instruments is pumping out updates for maschine compared to what akai is doing for mpc, akai wins. Plus for instance let’s hypothetically say that native instruments goes under, you most likely will want to stop updating your computer to make sure that you are able to continue using maschine and native instrument plugins because you never know when a operating system update is going to break something; more so Mac but also possibly windows.
