No, it doesn't, and that's a provable fact. Try, for example, "extreme" resonance on any synth using Moog's famous ladder filter and the analogue behaviour you will get is to lose all the bottom end from your sound. That won't happen with a digital filter, unless the developer does it on purpose. And the 24dB filter on an OB series synth is the worse=t but you also get it on pretty much all Moog synths. That's not "better", it's unwanted behaviour that was a compromise Bob Moog had to make at the time.FapFilter wrote: Tue May 12, 2020 7:18 am i even said that digital can be perfectly fine. but in some extreme settings, analog still sounds “better“ / more usable (to me)
So you actually have no f**king idea at all, you just assume it's true because that's what everyone says. But that doesn't stop you dressing up assumption as fact. It makes your opinions here completely worthless. The filter FM on the Moog ensemble inside Reaktor actually wasn't that far off from what i'd expect from general analog behavior in these regards. Never owned a Moog to compare though

Of course i don't need attenuated signals when resonance is cranked up. The Repros do this a ton too IIRC.
I also don't need buzzing, humming, hissing, crackly dusty faders/pots, several minutes of warm up time, etc, but some attributes that i had experience with on analog hardware are still a bit better there.
I don't need exact replications of one certain unit with all it's downsides included, but the generally most desireable attributes of “analog“ should be managable at some point.
Does my life depend on this? No. For the most part, VST(i) nail the analog realm pretty much perfectly.
But of course even purely digital synths or even distortions can be great too.
Some bands did awesome songs with the frowned upon Guitar Rig 3. it never occured to me that those songs sounded worse than stuff that was made with analog equipment.
And i don't need a Minimoog to know that the actual analog synths i did filter FM on sounded better at that than the soft synths i tried this on. I generally don't buy strict emulations and a Moog was never too high on my list either.
But maybe this just tells me that even my monotribe does filter FM (subjectively, of course) better than a Minimoog

Damn, were my cravings that obvious?
anyway, DDMF is definetly underrated, same as the previously mentioned Voxengo. The latter one actually so underrated, that i literally completely forgot about it in the context of this thread

DDMF, or Voxengo?
Nothing against DDMF, but i think it's quite unlikely for someone who's hung around here since 2004 to not at least have heard of Voxengo?
DDMF might have slipped someone's attention of course though

That seems to be so, at least in certain Genres/Milieus and in the Mainstream Music Actor Scene called "Charts".Ploki wrote: Tue May 12, 2020 11:11 amif we're being pedantic, something without melody is not so much of a song as it is a "composition" for all intents and purpose.GRUMP wrote: Tue May 12, 2020 10:53 am
Untruemany Songs today have no Melody anymore and "Harmony" is completely subjective now (as soo much).
But Gear is probably less important than before, as well as Skills and Abilities.
The Rhino is completely underrated btw.
A song by definition needs lyrics and melody.
skills and abilities are less important? How is that so?

This is very true. You don't like an artist because of their gear. You like them because of what they do with it. A good song makes a good artist. A good melody and harmony makes a good song. Everything else is just the delivery system.

Do you honestly think history will remember those artists?

who decides who is a true poet?
not sure any of those you mention have had their lyrics studied at oxford, in english literature poetty lectures.
on the other hand marshall mathers the 3rd has.
id say they have more idea about poetry than "random dude in a forum"
