Both are on sale ATM. What can you tell about the differences both aesthetic and functional?
1. Which one you find more inspiring?
2. Which one is easier to use (both sounds and interface)?
3. Which gives you more useful options?
4. Which gets you closer to a "natural" strings sound? (To your ear, of course.) And also, which set of base acoustic samples and articulations you like more?
5. Which one will be easier to integrate with (similarly priced) brass and woodwinds sections that I'm going to buy at some point? (nothing particular in mind ATM.)
6. How any of those two compare to Spitfire Epic Strings as an orchestral libraries?
7. Any prominent, similarly priced competitors? ("Standalone" VST option is welcome; and I am not a fan of EW strings).
Thank you.
Alex.
EDIT: I didn't like what I heard from Hyperion, so I substituted it for Output Analog Strings.

These are different tools ... I have both of them. The last virtual instruments I've purchased are the Output's ones and I would say Output are the best. Of course it depends on what you need, on your taste, but if you think about of unlimited possibilities, librairie's evolution, sound design, I would go for Output.
If you're looking for "acoustic" sample librairies, I would go for Spitfire (Chamber, Drama, Olafur, BBC ... depending on the genre of music you write).

I only have Analog Strings, so I can only comment on that. It's an excellent & inspiring instrument, but I would not buy it if you're looking for natural/pure string sounds. It's a hybrid library, centered around mixing strings with non-string sounds that complement them. I agree with Yohan73 that it's much better to go with something like Spitfire if you're looking for a pure orchestral library.

Thank you for the responses.
I went for the NOVO Essentials for the simple reason that I just like their base acoustic samples more (although AS include substantially more articulations). Having used NOVO Essentials for a bit, I have to say, it's very upfront sounding, which isn't bad at all but makes it harder to use for the "enveloping" background string parts.
I wholeheartedly agree regarding Spitfire sound; I am currently avoiding them because of my pettiness but I will likely step over myself eventually.
Did somebody use Cinesamples libraries, what do you think about them?
