Is this sarcasm? Nobody has even remotely implied that.
What the hell is up with the reading comprehension at this place?
It's definitely implied by concentrating on Apple the way people do. There are plenty of examples of this in this thread alone, one of which you commented on even. To use morality to suggest that a company only has amoral incentives, especially to shame people into feeling bad about liking an upgrade, is to imply that there are in fact moral companies, or that other companies are giving you things out of sound morals but not Apple.
This isn't any complex logic, or reading comprehension issue, but you've already gone ad hominem so I can't see this playing out well.

Yorrrrrr wrote: Wed May 13, 2020 11:08 pm It's an amazing update, to the point I'm wondering if I should give up Ableton Live. Logic Pro X now seems like a more complete solution for a greater variety of music making tasks.
It’s definitely the more complete solution but for me at least I’m always gonna have room for live as the push 2 is around.
My favorite hardware item in my studio.
I’m interested to see if we’re going to see mapping abilities for well known controllers added to logic.

Or better yet what if Apple makes a hardware controller for logic.

It would Probally be unreasonably expensive per Apple but it would be really interesting to see played out in theory.
The iPad Pro is Apples hardware controller
Well of course :)
It’s a great device too. There’s just somthing about Physical knobs and Pads and keys when it comes to live. I don’t know how to explain it.
I also prefer physical controls... I explain it that physical controls allow me to develop muscle memory and I do not need to look at the device to use it. Having to look takes mental focus away from the task itself. A screen I have to look to make sure I am touching the right place on the screen and I have to keep looking to make sure the parameter is moving and I haven't accidentally lost the connection. I also generally need the visual reference to see how much I have moved the on-screen control.

That said, the iPad Pro gives me much better visual feedback than say Push. I can see a 10x14 Grid on my iPad Pro (Push is 8x8) and if the grid is bigger, I don't have to page up/down or left/right... just swipe around which is more fluid and intuitive.

The Mixer view is more immediately informative than on a Push and has different modes. There is a lot more visual info and a lot less button pushing.

The first time I launched Logic Remote I had no trouble understanding everything it could do within a few minutes of exploring. Push is a significant learning curve and easy to forget how to navigate somewhere when I haven't used it in a while.

All things considered, I prefer the iPad
Reading through the update announcement it's stated that Novation launchpads are compatible with the clip/grid launcher in Logic 10.5. I have a Push2, and it would be fantastic if it got the sort of love that Möss gave it for Reaper and Bitwig, but I think that it's more likely Akai get on board for the APC series.

So regarding my previous comment about leaving Live and M4L for Logic. I probably should have added that I use Bitwig and Reaktor as well and I'm quite content with that setup.

This latest logic update makes it easier than ever to compose and do sound design right in logic.

I’ve been thoroughly enjoying using Reason in Logic too, now that it can function as both an AU and MIDI FX plugin.

It looks Logic finally got modernized features that are existing in other daws for decade. But better late than never. The AI in the automated multi sample patch generator is interesting.

Just added Logic Pro X 10.5 Sampler to the engine playback site at https://www.discodsp.com/bliss/aliasing/#qsampler

They didn't update the resampling DSP, still seems basic linear interpolation. It's strange considering their Flex time stretch is one of the best on the market.

wasn't all that part of Autosampler/Keymap when apple bought it from Redmatica? pretty sure they just rolled it into the new sampler... same as they did w/Mainstage right?

I switched from DP in about 2001 to Logic at the same point I got Reason 1.0. I might be back in Logic for quite some time, and Reason as an AUi is going to be a trip.

I had recently got back into ITB electronic music making after 10yrs away...had decided to commit to logic as it was what I remembered from my previous music making.

I have spent the last few months kicking myself for not committing to Ableton as the more time I spent with logic - the more Ableton seems to be what I really should have gone for...

But not anymore!

This looks EXACTLY what I was wanting...the sequencer is sweet, the loop view seems to work well...

I can’t tell you how much I am looking forward to programming NI Battery drum patterns without having to use either the damn piano roll or a third party step sequencer!

The only thing I want now to make it perfect - is effects racks like Ableton!

Having to open and close strings of fx plugin windows is a pain and interupts the old creative flow...

Other than that - this looks marvellous!

No but they may be an ARM build of Logic in future.

Love the update. My preferred DAW until now was Live Suite and Cubase Pro.
Not anymore, Logic will be my main DAW from now on 😀
Just wish that NI will update their software soon, crashing Logic.
NI acknowledged the issue though and is working on fix.

The important thing is that they are not particularly well implemented in Logic's contemporaries Cubase and Pro Tools.

And I'm not aware of any Daw that's does auto sampling of midi connected hardware. That must be a first?

A decade? I think you might want to take another look at what other DAWs had in 2010...

The Autosampler stuff has been in MainStage for many years. I don't think it was simply rolled in as is, the technology has been continuously refined.

The majority of Keymap Pro editing features have still not been implemented AFAIK. To this day there is still nothing as powerful on the market.
