Every week my inbox is spammed with the latest cinametic sample, preset pack nonsense. It's a constant barrage of trivial things with little focus on more significant projects.
Even Massive X seems to have been mostly a vehicle to push sample packs (I was wondering why there were so few presets in such a major release, but now I see!)
Totally agree. NI pushes Komplete based on its volume of content, but they now seem more focused on stuffing it with packs and presets rather than maintaining the existing content.

There are plenty of posts here and elsewhere bemoaning how few updates there are on older products, but updates are few and far between.

Agreed with this from sole selfish perspective of being a Maschine user. The Komplete ecosystem is getting a lot more love that Maschine. I have invested a crap load of $'s into maschine. It's starting to look like i will be dumping it all on used market and switch to MPC one day. A total BS and low move my NI IMO!

Just got this over the transom:

Anima Ascent

MASCHINE EXCLUSIVE:
180 Patterns
7 Drumsynth presets
1 Sampled Instrument
3 Bass Synth presets
8 Projects

Lots of other more general content to go with it.
Loops, samples, etc
Cheers

Music software companies will survive. The ones that don't will be ones that had bad finances to begin with. The issues with NI, and I am (or was), a big NI fan, seem to have been ongoing since couple of years. I think I started paying attention when I saw the weird Splice stuff enter the equasion. It seems all of a sudden , the regular products NI were know for just started getting delayed and side winded.
Yea. I’m not YET concerned about music companies.
Specifically software companies. The industry seems decently recession proof.
If anything as the world goes to S**T I think people will turn more to art forms like music to cope and connect with each-other.
Did any major Dev go out of business back in 08? That’s before I was making music so I don’t know.

My only concern is people are saving money (for understandable and obvious reasons) and less likely to spend it on programs and plugins and DAWS and etc, consumer goods not essential to life.
Heck I haven’t bought anything myself since the outbreak except 2 sample packs that were like 70% off on prime loops... I’m probably a bad example however because I already was at my saturation point in Gear :hihi:

I think it has to do with how much overhead the company has. If they’re a huge company with alot of employees they’re still paying as well as rent and taxes (as well as panicky investors), it’s a lot harder to keep afloat than those smaller devs who are basically working out of their houses with little overhead costs.

Cool man. Good info.

Now I'm off to my favorite exotic pet forum to post about how iguanas don't make a difference to me one way or the other.

What's with all this vulture mentality? NI has produced a lot great products, including some wonderful boutique ones, systems for creating your own modular instruments, etc. Massive X hasn't grabbed me, so far, as it heats up my computer enormously, but I can see its strengths.

I do wish NI would develop at least one more major instrument: a multisample/synth product like Halion 6 or Falcon. Vojtech at Meldaproductions has developed an excellent one seemingly all by himself. Why not NI?

With The Wavetable Update It would seem they are trying to Give Komplete That treatment.
