Drums: samples or synthesis?

After tremor was discontinued i feel there is a big void to fill for developers around drum synths, there are a few but they don't offer enough synth parameters and most of them come with sequencer which is redundant in many cases.

Ableton drum rack is not a drum synth.
The way it's integrated with Ableton's synths and effects makes it the ultimate drum synth.
