It's just a list of all their stuff but there's nothing new on it so I have no idea.

I am just speculating about the price. Dune 3 is $179 and Legend is $99. I am hoping it will be the same price as Legend. That would be an ideal price point.

Post

I bet it will be more like $129.

Usually emulations of poly-synths cost more than emulations of mono-synths, regardless of whether the emulation turns the monosynth into a poly-capable synth (like the Legend).

Post

I'm thinking $149 with no less than $129. In fact, I'd be shocked if it was that cheap. It will definitely not be $99.

Post

And if you're wondering how I come up with this, the original OB xa (could never afford one) made between 1980 and 82 was between $4500 and $5500. The Minimoog, made when synths were a lot more expensive (at least around me) could be had for around $3500 in the mid 70s.

Given these figures, there is no way the OB goes for what the Legend goes for assuming that the amount of programming that has to go into the OB is comparable to what had to go into it with the hardware version.

Of course only time will tell. But I'm calling it now. $149.

Post

I suspect the cost will have more to do with how much time and effort went into building it versus how much the original synthesizers cost compared to each other.

But I think $129 to $149 is probably spot on. It’s been in the works for years now

They should base it on current second hand prices of the original ..
I lost my heart in Cap de Creus

Current 2nd hand prices are between $3,690 — $5,775. So not really much different from when they came out 40 years ago.

Additionally, when the Legend came out (even though prices have shot up since) the Minimoog was going for as little as $2500.

So comparing apples to apples (2nd hand to 2nd hand) the OB is still more expensive overall.

I still go with my guess of $149, though I wouldn't be surprised if it was more.

Anyone know when this beastie will be out (even approx)?

I will take the Lord's name in vain, whenever I want. Hail Satan! And his little goblins too.

It’s apparently been in beta for months. Could be any time between tomorrow and several more weeks.

I think $129-149 would be too steep for me at least. Not for a single synth emulation. Repro is $149 and includes two synths--one mono and one poly.

He making a Synth that sounds identical to a legendary hardware synth to an obsessive incredible level and costs $5,199.99, that he's spent years working on, But he's going to give it to you for 150$, only 3% of the Price you would have to Pay for the hardware Unit, oh and it has extra features, and you keep it forever with no risk of breaking it:

The post above this is likely bait, viewer discretion is advised.

A lot of synths cost outrageous amounts of money on the used market. That doesn't mean there is any particular correlation between the used price, the list price back in the 80s, and what an emulation will fetch today. It is only worth as much as folks are willing to pay.

Actually, I would rather see an multi-instrument like Diva capable of emulating features of a wider range of Oberheim synths like the SEM, OB-8, Matrix 6, Xpander, Matrix 12, etc. I will wait until it comes out and then decide.
