While I can understand that, I must say that it doesn't bother me that much. It's not necessarily a loss of bottom end anyway, rather of volume. At least I don't really notice much of a loss of bass.AnX wrote: Fri May 15, 2020 7:05 am to be precise, he doesn't like the filter behavior at high res settings

I believe that is the behavior of Moog-designed ladder filter.AnX wrote: Fri May 15, 2020 7:05 am to be precise, he doesn't like the filter behavior at high res settings
personally I never use high res unless I'm doing acid type sounds, but I use a dedicated unit for that

Bones you sound like someone trying to jack up the price.BONES wrote: Fri May 15, 2020 3:56 am My take is that $99 was a fair price for The Legend, given what it has to offer, a few years ago. But the game has moved on and a lot of synths that were $129 a few years ago are now $149 and $149 synths are now $169-$179. The cost of living hasn't gone down, neither have wages, so it is almost inevitable that the new synth will be more expensive than The Legend. If I had to guess, I'd say $119-$129.
The thing with it is, unlike straight emulations, you don't have to give a flying f**k about the Oberheim sound, or accurate emulation thereof, to see the value of this instrument. I honestly couldn't care less how much like an OB-Xa it is, I would buy it because it sounds amazing, despite being stupidly simple. It is exactly the kind of synth I have been begging for someone to make for 15 years - stellar sound without having to wade through 12 envelopes and 40 LFOs and every other thing that opens and shuts that 99% of users will never find any use for to get the sound you want. Rich thought I might appreciate The Legend for that, but he apparently hadn't noticed how bad the Minimoog sounds. No such issue this time around though, he's nailed it.

I don't think anyone here has any influence over what Richard is going to charge for this synth.v1o wrote: Fri May 15, 2020 12:47 pmBones you sound like someone trying to jack up the price.BONES wrote: Fri May 15, 2020 3:56 am My take is that $99 was a fair price for The Legend, given what it has to offer, a few years ago. If this synth is up to his usual standard, I'll happily pay 129 for it. I think the Legend was a fair price considering the synth's limitations.
I mean, Dune 3 is more on the expensive side. But I use it all the time along with the Virus. So, I can't really complain.

Oh, one more thing. That $149 price that I'm calling on this. That's the regular price. I'm going to assume that when this thing is first released, there will be an intro price. I don't know if Richard does those but I know a lot of people do. Even Urs does with his synths and they never go on sale afterwards, with few exceptions.
Anyway, the intro price for this will probably be around $119. That's my guess.

Dune3 come with filters emulation for Prophet600, Oberheim, juno alpha, Jupiter-8 and Moogtony10000 wrote: Fri May 15, 2020 2:33 am Actually, I would rather see an multi-instrument like Diva capable of emulating features of a wider range of Oberheim synths like the SEM, OB-8, Matrix 6, Xpander, Matrix 12, etc. I will wait until it comes out and then decide.

Right. That's how I got Repro-1 and 5 for just $74. Yet tons of musicians and producers used a Moog ladder in a bajillion of records and it sounds great.BONES wrote: Fri May 15, 2020 10:40 amHe probably never bothered to listen to one like a musician/producer.

Since resonance means increasing the volume at the cutoff frequency relative to the remaining frequency response, it can be done by actually increasing the volume there and leaving the rest of the range unchanged, or by reducing the volume everywhere except for the cutoff frequency.
I think the latter makes more sense, else the global volume become too loud. Even if it might not have been intended on the Minimoog, it is not a bad solution in my view.
