No question. There's loads of great analog sounding stuff out there: Xils, BeepStreet, u-he, TAL, Synapse, *gasp* even from Native Instruments ;) , just to name a few developers.

I'ts just a matter of personal preference.

For me, i simply seem to prefer how TAL Mod sounds, but it also helped in my decision that it is also more versatile modulation wise that it s enough for my “do it all workhorse synth“.
Others might be “ok“ with Dagger, or Repro, whilst yet other needs would only be satisfied with something with at least the feature sets of Dune 3, Zebra 3, or Reaktor 6.
The GAS is always greener on the other side!

Interesting that you cite Falcon as being a bad buy when it's commonly referred to as one of the best synth/ samplers ever made. :scared:
Perhaps the Falcon dislikers (like me) are a more polite bunch who does not enter every thread and troll around with a grumpy feeling?
Yeah right Trollenberger  This is my first post for this week! Falcon was not the main point of my post. And I apologize for the falcon criticism.
Thanks for the detailed response, didn't mean to come across as aggressive or anything. Generally interested as I've never really heard anyone say anything against it other than the complicated UI.

I guess nothing really comes close to Kontakt with regards to its ubiquitousness.
Falcon sounds really good but the UI just doesnt work for me. UI-wise Kontakt is not perfect, but for working with samples it's a lot better in my opinion. Most developers underestimate UI design. Have you ever asked yourself why Serum became so popular? Sound-wise I prefer Hive and Zebra but Serum gives me that "blank canvas-feeling". If I have a sound in my head I often intuitively load up Serum first because it's easy, it's fast and it's fun. Sorry, but to me Falcon is no fun at all.

I thought that the other day - I have Arturia Pigments, it does everything Serum does and more. So why do I prefer opening Serum almost every time? Because it's laid out better.
Signatures are so early 2000s.

THIS
I have 5 VSTIs I can say are more Full featured then Serum yet its still my Go-To. The UI, The UI is just the Best UI ive ever used for a Soft-Synth. The close second for me is Pigments. The 2 plugins I enjoy using the most and have the most fun with, Those also happen to be the 2 synths I use the most. Coincidence? No Sir.
Complexity isin't everything.
Now i Like falcon, Falcon is on Paper the most powerful plugin I own, and It's growing on me, I don't abandon it. But I usually only use it for select sounds and sampling rather then general synth work like I use the above aforementioned. because its UI, albeit not confusing, is complex, so I only will spend that extra time if the sound i'm looking for REQUIRES such heavy lifting.

I agree, serum gets a close edge to me, But Pigments does have a crazy Modulation feature that can allow you to just visually chainlink multiple parameters in seconds without dragging and dropping over. I love that feature SOOOOOO much
Wish Serum would do something like that.
The post above this is likely bait, viewer discretion is advised.

There are soundsets for SERUM from Soundethers (for example).
Very ambient, very left-field.
SERUM is far more than a dumb techno tool.
It can be soooo much more (depending on your skills and dedication)!

Was a mighty good offer. And, it seems to have paid out for them as well, so... I have a feeling that u-he, who don't do sales, will... do a sale at some point again. ;)

Oh I wasn't questioning your personal taste. Was just noting that TAL Mod is just a bit more flexible than either Diva or Repro ;)

Np, I didn't question you'd be questioning my personal taste either!

Just wanted to point out that it's just what i picked and doesn't has to be the best choice for everyone.
And of course it is also valid if you own all of them too

just a disclaimer so i don't risk getting banned from KVR for starting a detestable minimalism movement
