What is your impression? Are they fighting for the same userbase? At least ableton have PC users so they will live on.

Logic 10.5 Release note

Top 1-50 DAW percentage in DJ Mag Top 100 DJs is, Logic 36.4%, Live 36.4%, FL 15.9%, S1 6.8%, Reason 2.3%, Cubase 2.3%.

It may bring some 'MAC' Live users back...not sure what the PC to MAC spit of users is, but based on a poll here and a few other on other forums I would say around 2 PC users for every Mac User, so you are looking at smaller demographic to start with.

I somehow doubt it though, Live has a loyal fanbase who get work done quickly with its simple ands limited structure and it has massive user support (books, videos, packs, hardware.

Also, the Logic update has only just come, not sure if it is 'road tested' yet for live (lower case) music makers....

This is going to make most sense to people who use Live/Bitwig/FL besides Logic which is their main DAW, they will now have valid reason to ditch them, I don't think hard core users of any of the mentioned DAW's will find Logic suddenly great because of those few features, but mostly those Logic users that found all those mentioned DAW's attractive because of those few features.

Newcomers will for sure find Logic much more attractive, that's where most user base will come in now.

I think it is inevitable that some Live users will switch back to Logic. I doubt it will be in numbers that will hurt Live though.

Suddenly LPX became way more attractive to me with these samplers/step sequencer/live loops additions. LPX is only catching up, as Live already had those (except the step sequencer). And can't deny LPX is a much better deal at $200...

But, Live is still Live. Nothing beats Live. If I switched, I would miss its fast and simple workflow, the session view, the racks, M4L, the integration with my Push 2....among other things.

Let's not forget that grid, push and clip launching DJs aren't really in high demand at the moment and haven't been or probably won't be for quite sometime, if ever again.

I don't think the performance aspect of DAWs is as popular as it once was, but the clip launching features could still be used in the studio for ideas, arranging and composing.

The new Auto-Sample is sweet... you can turn any synth sound into a sampler preset.

I’m a live user since the start. But I’m surely considering at least playing around with Logic. I downloaded the demo instal and will get it running soon. Not gonna ditch my old DAW but something fun will surely come out of this.

No, but there are varying degrees of authoritarian government lockdowns preventing people from working gigs where launching clips might occur.

That's true (although coming to an end in the next few months for most people) but that's all live music (singers, guitars, everything) not a reflection on the popularity of live electronic musicians....I suspect DJ's will be back and as popular as ever very soon...the young people will go mad after months of captivity!

No, absolutely not. 'nuff said.

Well... I'm sure some will actually switch back, or, in general, switch. But, I would guess that that's rather the normal fluctuation. I think they differ from each other enough to attract a different user base.

Will 10.5 Update bring back former Logic users from ableton?
