The possibility to record directly into the sampler is just fantastic. It doesn't matter if it's from other tracks, VST instruments, eternal sources or just the computer audio (online radio, YouTube, streams, games or whatever). Finally a sampler that integrates beautifully into your DAW and actually can do sample (yes, I know Geist 2 and SampleOne XT). Automatic pitch, loudness, loop point and (crop) silence analysis is the icing on the cake.

Strange that it is omitted for Quick Sampler where it would be more useful.CinningBao wrote: Sat May 16, 2020 4:52 pmSure, in the Zone go to File, click on the file name and select "Load Audio File" and as long as you have "Preview audio..." ticked in the lower left corner you can preview in-place.Passing Bye wrote: Sat May 16, 2020 1:43 pm Is it possible to browse/audition samples inside of samplers in context of project (while it's playing some notes), without having to drag&drop them from library to sampler all the time?

so Logic automation works between tracks, so can be created automaton clips with region automation, I'm not a Logic just playing with trial (day 87
) user so just asking

anyway seems it's working a pattern clip can automate an instrument on another track for ex., with a simple reassignment no needs additionally routing, that's nice
ps. and sees the smart controls too on another tracks, even better

So there is another strange thing now with stacked tracks. With 10.5 i cannot trigger more than one stacked track nor hear more than one while recording.
It just works when i enable R on all the sub-tracks.
I guess i need to wait for 10.5.1
Maybe i roll back for now. A bit too much bugs and a bit unstable so far sadly.

But maybe i just did something wrong and they changed settings somewhere, i don´t know. So i was way to euphoric and now its a pain so far.

Well, yeah, the 2013 iMacs used super hot 32nm Sandy Bridge chips. My 2009 27” used to get so hot that it felt like I could cook an egg on top of the display. Despite that it still never died. The 2013 Mac Pro had thermal issues because it was trying to cool a massive 130watt Xeon chip alongside dual “pro” focused GPUs using just one fan. Obviously a failed design they abandoned, just like the old G4 Cube they were so enamored with.Jace-BeOS wrote: Sat May 16, 2020 4:51 pm Yeah, my use of Logic probably won’t run an iMac so hard as to fear thermal death...
...but I also want to be able to do some 3D gaming and design. That’s what killed my MacBook Pro 3,1. iMac? No thanks. It’s just a slightly larger all-in-one. Even the 2013 Mac Pro has reports of thermal failures. No way in hell do I trust an iMac to be okay with that level of CPU & GPU stress on a regular basis. My current iMac 27” gets hot as hell on top just from the display alone.
I am not a hard core gamer, but even games from just a few years ago will still drive such a system very hot. That’s why I’m pissed the Mac Pro is no more (replaced by the Mac Pixar).
The new iMacs don’t behave like those at all and both the CPU/GPU are based on much thinner, more efficient silicon these days. And I fully expect another refresh in a few months based on Intel’s 10th gen architecture which should run even cooler. When factoring in the excellent 5K display there is still no better value Mac.

Hm. I can’t afford a brand new one, even if they’re even better on the next revision. I think I’m going to be buying used for the rest of my life... if I’m lucky enough to have money for anything at all.Tronam wrote: Sat May 16, 2020 8:19 pmWell, yeah, the 2013 iMacs used super hot 32nm Sandy Bridge chips. Intel's 10th chips so far are power hungry and run hot. So I don't expect the thermals to get better. Intel is pushing their process as far as they can which for them just means increasing the clocks a bit but increasing the clocks a bit scales awfully on the current process.Tronam wrote: Sat May 16, 2020 8:19 pmWell, yeah, the 2013 iMacs used super hot 32nm Sandy Bridge chips. I'm actually wondering what Apple is going to do. I know they want to move to their own chips but its way too early for that and I don't think they are interested in going to AMD before moving to their own chips.

Sure, but only when compared against leading edge 7nm Ryzen. Intel’s current 14/10nm chips aren’t like the room warmers of systems past. My old iMac’s fans would kick in at even the slightest workload and it was merely a dual-core processor. To get the fans to spin up audibly now I’d have to push both the CPU and GPU hard simultaneously.apoclypse wrote: Sun May 17, 2020 1:34 amIntel's 10th chips so far are power hungry and run hot. I’ve already done enough mucking about inside my used iMac 12,2 (had to fix shit done wrong by the seller). Not going to do something even MORE difficult, especially that which equates to hacking around with GPU chips and thermal paste. I don’t want to even open the damned thing ever again.Michael L wrote: Sun May 17, 2020 1:31 amArrgh. Try iFixit:“Macrumors” wrote:Oops! We ran into some problems.
