What is happening to Native Instruments?

Read only first couple of pages but can't understand why people are dunking on NI for not being innovative. Didn't they just release Massive X or something not long time a go?

Well, the same thing that gonna happen to other developers too, and the reason for that is, their plugins are too expensive. The +100€ plugins are just way too expensive in these days. There is tons of good free and super cheap plugins, and in these days plugins that with comes on your DAW, is also super good. Also thanks to Behringer, the hardware is almost cheap as the plugins are.

Also, in past 5 years or even more, there has no been any superb new plugin. Another eq or compressor. New moog emulation blablabla. If you have make music more than ~3years, you probably already have all the tools you need.

But the main thing is, that the plugins are just way too expensive in these days. The +100€ days for the plugins are just over. Sooner the company itself realize it, better it is for their own safety. Especially now after this corona. People don't simply have money anymore / are willing to spend so much money to the plugins.

Personally, I'm not gonna spend more than 50-60€ to new plugin anymore, because I already have all the tools I need. And if I buy something new, it's really have to be super special, or super cool deal.

I'm of course happy that there are devs like Valhalla, Klanghelm, TAL and others (and of course those who literally give anything away for free), but i also don't see prices up to 200 bucks (maybe even a tiny bit more if extremely good/verstatile) for power houses like Zebra, Kontakt, Reaktor, Serum or even just extremely good analog sounding synths (those should offer more than just a bare bones minimal frills synth with almost no options, just because the original from 1983 sported just one oscilllator, an envelope, a filter, an LFO and nothing else)
Below 100 is really a nice bonus. Noone has to sell stuff for so little though, just because there are some really generous people who do their stuff in their free time mainly and don't have employees/co-workers. Also, some aren't programming their stuff at home and actually have to pay rent for space dedicated to that.

I think the market has been saturated for some time now. Hardware has also got a lot cheaper and attracted a few people back from the virtual world. Akai Live over Maschine for example...no more being feathered to a computer.

Even DAW bundled instruments and fx are good enough now a-days that you really don’t need much more, and Some individual plug ins are now So good that you realy only need a handful of instruments and fx to have everything covered...we all know that, the rest is GAS.

I think many software vendors are struggling, it’s all bundles, points, subscriptions and no brainier offers (another 89% off offer!)...It will be interesting to see if NI have some new method of getting our money with this consolidation around a few product lines and probably a cloud based shop/delivery for sounds/packs (custom shop!).

Most of it is surely GAS, but not all of it. When the level of quality have reached the level we have been at for the last five years, you can easily indulge yourself with the luxury of choosing your sonic tools based on workflow. Ten years ago hardware sequencers were difficult to find, today we have Pyramid, Cirklon, Keystep Pro/Beatstep Pro and a bunch of others I can't remember the names of. Another example is the Softube Console 1. We've had great sounding software emulations of large console mixers, EQs and compressors for a long time now - what the Console 1 brings to the table is a different way to work with them.

I think that this is where the winners of the battle of our money will be won, not by offering 1 million kick drums and loops, and subscription of 500 plugins and libraries, but helping you go from point A to point B as easily as possible.

native instruments has some awesome products for sure. but their packages are, for my pocket, the least attractive i have ever seen (unless you are the "i dont give a shit about money i take them all" type of customer). they´re seem to be driven by that proprietary sort of thinking "you are an ALL-ours-customer or just get the f**k outta here".

I don't think they sell their single synth products through resellers, only Komplete.

What do you mean no more being tethered to a computer? The Live is a computer. Unfortunately its a totally purpose-built computer that's going to set you back quite a bit of money.

Honestly don't get the interest in these devices here in 2020.

I'd like to see Native Instruments come out with a 4x4 pad like the $100 ones that don't have all the bells and whistles , but have the quality of Maschines more expensive pads . I'd like to have the controller, but dont care nothing about Maschine or Battery software , they really need to flip over the 4x4 pad layout of Battery4 default 16 cell layout any way it's "upside down" to all the 4x4 controllers , when running through presets , what are they thinking sometimes that be an easy fix ? Why do they put C1 in the top left and not the bottom left cell ? Totally stupid ....

I'm happy to find bargains and powerhouses, hopefully in
the same product . The concept of 'free time' is invalid.
Defining what is 'wasted time', in one's private context,
is important, and differs wildly among us. As a private party,
you can choose where and when to code, in a recliner,
at a kitchen table. Or by the pool, as those codaholics
feigning a yearly Australian vacation might sometimes do.

A products usefulness has nothing to do with it's date of origen,
man-hours consumed for developement, something it's coder
sat on, and that seats place in the universe. The gifted,
the educated, and the grinder, might each find happiness
and prosperity, on very different paths. Hopefully so.
