I really appreciate the random function in the Virus where you can set the strength and scope of the randomness. That way it's quite easy to get interesting variations of patches you already like.

You may be thinking of FM8 also by NI. It has preset morphing. Absynth has a mutate function and you can control the amount of mutate and randomness. It's nice for creating unique background atmospheres at least. Yes the GUI isn't great.Lucastyle wrote: Sun May 17, 2020 5:11 amIsn't The Absynth just a morph between selected presets kid of thing? I cant seem to recall how it worked maybe I missed something while testing.
Although I find Absynth's interface really quirky and uninspiring.

Some Tone2 synths have this. Definitely Gladiator and Icarus. Probably others.

U-he have a script for Zebra2 that can be edited.
Defaults to 25% randomizing, attached as a zip, below.
I have 3 of the scripts in Zebra2 presets folder, title modified with
AAA, MMM, and ZZZ so there is less need for scrolling
to access it. A section at the end can be 'un-commented'
for 'the really wild' stuff
Be safe

Phrazor allows you to do that with any plugin.DrGonzo wrote: Sun May 17, 2020 9:12 am I really appreciate the random function in the Virus where you can set the strength and scope of the randomness. That way it's quite easy to get interesting variations of patches you already like.

You can select both the parameters that should be randomized, plus the randomization-strength via percentage (1%-100%), i.e. you have full control over what is being randomized and how much.
(Im not actually using this myself since i make all my sound from scratch, but for someone looking for an easy way to create variations of existing sounds (or even totally new sounds) i can recommend this because it works with any plugin as long as it exposes its parameters as automatable parameters to the host.)
