I love the concept of Vintagewarmer. It gives everything you put in front of it a richer tone. I am ready to try something a bit subtler, perhaps with less "character". I am using Auria Pro on an Ipad (The IOS plugin for Vintagewarmer is called "Microwarmer"). Can anyone recommend a plug for both Logic and my Ipad that is kind of the same concept as Vintagewarmer but maybe a bit subtler?

I like these cross platform iOS apps for saturation/Lofi

Toneboosters Enhancer
PSA1000
Reamp
RX950
Woodlofier

Saturn is an IAP in Auria Pro on iOS. However, will be interesting to see if the new Saturn 2 comes to iOS soon.

I forgot Reelbus, one of my faves.

Vintage Warmer is awesome, but I have been using FF Saturn (recently got Saturn 2) and TB Reelbus.

Try the stuff in Logic, there's new CamelPhat version called Phat FX in Multi Effects sub section.

I just got SSDR from Klanghelm. It's cheap, and I like it more than the Saturn demo (previous version) I tried.
Doing nothing is only fun when you have something you are supposed to do.

Sidenote: ...damn I still hate Apple for assimilating Camel Audio.

A lot of the Airwindows stuff is designed to be VERY subtle - the kind of thing you don't notice unless there's lots of instances of it across numerous tracks.

For Airwindows saturation, I like Focus, Spiral, Channel, and Busscolors, but there's a lot of other options there too. http://www.airwindows.com/category/consoles-2/

Vintage Warmer is as subtle as it comes for saturation—but I think what you're asking for is a more transparent compressor? If so, if it's in your price range, the FabFilter compressor is available and is both great for learning and highly regarded.

i would guard against thinking you have 'outgrown' a tool... especially saturation... it is more a 'flavor' tool. there are many forms of it some subtle some not. you will probably hear the word 'toolbox' over and over in this line of work. just store it away so you can always fall back on it. some of us probably have at least a thousand 'tools'... most are not a 'go to' but more so an 'option'. sometimes you have to find what works best in a given situation. nothing useful should ever be 'outgrown' in my opinion. just attain different tools but don't toss aside things you wish you would have kept. :) cheers
