Arturia sells, that's why.

Why are there gazillions of EDM soundbanks for Sylenth1, Massive or Spire? Because those are the main synths people use for EDM.

No, that's just your price. The arturia site updates its graphics per-logged-in-user. You see the price that reflects what you own. V7 owners get the 49 dollar price, but for others its 149.

Echoes in the Attic wrote: Tue May 19, 2020 3:53 pm Tried the Arturia one. Uses more cpu, dopesn't sound as good. It's ok but I think Synapse will do fine. I do hope it is priced the same as The Legend though to be as competitive as possible against Arturia's low prices.

Arturia's full price is €199, early bird €149, with various lower prices for ppl who own several of their products
Yeah their individual prices aren't great, but they are cheap as bundles. Just as a Pigments owner I can get V Collection 7 + OB-Xa for $249, and of course for V Collection 6 or 7 owners it's pretty cheap as well. So I hope Synapse OB is cheap enough to compete with those prices.

I have Analog Lab and I am seeing $99.

The video has the text 'considered the best polyphonic synth of its era'.

Uh-huh. By who, exactly? Because in my estimation the Prophet-5 would win that contest any day.

But that's marketing for you, I guess. Bogus assertions meant to look like 'facts'.

Best way is to wait for the Version 8 upgrade for 199$.

Best way is to wait for Version 8 to get released, then add another 6-8 months and get the upgrade for $99.

That's assuming there's more in V8 than just the OB-Xa because I still think the Synapse version will be better.

as long as some ppl said it, its true... for those ppl

some ppl say that about lots of things.... like movies, albums, cars....

so yes, it's marketing speak

Looks like Arturia will suck up the demand for the OB-Xa before the Synapse version is released. It also looks like they will set the bar for pricing. As I said previously, $99 will be the best target price since I can get the Arturia version for that price right now.

I'm not going to be negative regarding the Arturia release. More options and more tools is always better. Just going to say I'm really looking forward to Synapse releasing an OB synth.

As a pad synth I would prefer the Oberheim as it has 3 voices more.
But in terms of modulation and flexibility the Prophet 5 seems superior.
Judging from videos, the Oberheim sounds warmer and lusher, the Prophet 5 funkier. But I never played either one, it is just my impression.

I think Synapse should release OBsession with the tag line, "One OB-Synth You'll Actually Use." :)

The Synapse Audio OB-Xa instantly sounds like a real analog synth for me and it also could sound "alive". With the demo of Arturia OB-Xa V i get that feeling with very few patches but overall it is not really up there with the Synapse Audio one.

As already got the Synapse Audio plugin spending money fro the Arturia plugin would be kind of waste of money at the moment for me. FWIW i got the Arturia V-Collection 6 and so far the new synths in V7 were not really worth the upgrade for me.
