I doubt it, I think he's one of those people who is laser-focused on the job at hand. He probably hasn't even noticed yet.
rasmusklump wrote: Wed May 20, 2020 5:44 amSo, either I buy an Arturia Synth or one where the betatesters call others "idiots".... Guess wich one I would chose..
The one that sounds the best? The one with the handiest features? Or the one that offers the best value? Those are the only logical choices I can think of, any other would likely be very poor choice, filled with compromise.

What is the hype all about when there is already a quite capable free emulation on the market with OBXD?

Anyone have any release date for Synapse OB-Xa? It would at least nice to know which month. I am on the fence here and if the release will happen soon I might wait buying other stuff.

But if Synapse Audio offers OB-Xa and the Legend as a bundle for $99 or less before Arturia offers me a V-Collection 8 upgrade for $99, I could be persuaded.
thats insane, he would basically be giving away his new synth!

i dont think a small company can compete with sale prices from someone like arturia , and it won't be expensive anyway..... gotta pay the bills after all
As I suggested, it could be a special crossgrade offer for Arturia V-Collection owners only. (It wouldn't be the first time a company made such an offer and gave a crossgrade to another company's customers.)

This is what I believe it would take for Synapse to swoop in on some of Arturia's customers who are waiting for a better deal. Or Synapse could not do that, and not get those sales.

Release date for Synapse OB-Xa

There is no official announcement or news from Synapse on there web site or social media (as far as I can tell) that it is even being developed, let alone a release date. There is no evidence it exists other than people here saying they are beta testing it, but for all we know it could be next year, 2022 or never.

I am hoping a release date becomes evident before June 9th, when the introductory price for a similar product ends :tu:

I realy can't think of a reason (especially now) why its all so secret squirrel- if its with beta testers and they are talking about it openly (that it exists!) then why not at least officially announce that it is a new product that is being developed with XX (provisional) features and an estimated XX release date?

It isn't/wasnt a race (if it was Synapse lost!) and if the Synapse OB-Xa sounds absolutely amazing people will buy it even if they have another OB (as has been pointed out, alternatives already existed)...people bought the legend and I bet most of them had at least one good Moog clone already!

Rich has publicly said several times he is doing it, and even put up audio demos at a very early stage

all that info is out there

release date is, when it's ready, not before

Well, that sort of answer my question anyway.

'The truth is out there' - its just not easy to find, why should that be? Is it supposed to be a secret development project or not?

I cant find it on his web site, twitter or Facebook- as he only has a couple of products so you would have thought it would have made the news on his own web site?

Most people dont know who 'Rich' is, or that he has a new product coming that is an OB-Xa- it wouldn't do him any harm (and it may do him some good) to at least just put a note on his own website saying they are working on it...not everyone is on KVR!

this changes things. until now this was Synapse's year as far as OB-Xa things go, and roses smelled nice in Germany, but Arturia chimed in last minute, took shit on German roses, offered French roses, won.

Arturia just went Uli B on poor Richard. reminds of when Yamaha hinted they might revive CS-80, Uli rudely intervenes, posts pics of a Behringer replica, rains on their parade.

by the time Rich finishes his version, less people will care, which obviously affects sales. I agree, beta testers need to stfu, get the fock back to work, less Internet and forums, actually help Richard complete his shit before Arturia shit sinks in and takes over.

It's a very bad idea to name a definite release date. So much can happen and break in software development. Arturia did the right thing by... not announcing anything. :)

I don't really know what to say to this. I mean, all that's been "leaked" (by Richard himself) is that they're working on a Oberheim OB-Xa emulation, and that was already years ago. He's not to blame for impatience, but, as has been mentioned, with some beta testers teasing non stop, it's a bit difficult to keep the mob under control. ;) Don't think that really did a favor.

And, my opinion is that he should take all the time in the world. Noone benefits from a unfinished or buggy instrument. And, it's probably the same people who will complain then, who complained about the synth not being released yesterday before the release.

The people who can't wait should just get the Arturia synth, and maybe, if budget is thick enough, get the Synapse one as well. I decided that it's be silly not to wait and to compare, especially as I think Synapse will do a better job than Arturia (even though the Arturia synth isn't that bad really).
