I tried this out with a guitar last night, and the results were awesome! For such a small set of parameters, these eight algorithms give a tremendous amount of versatility! Very inspiring.

It refuses description, allowing only the vague approach of adjectives: dark, light, raw, angelic. Who or what is making these noises? Where are they coming from and what do they point to? What kind of entity can leave such a troubling sonic remnant?

Also, since VVV has one I assumed Valhalla would be working towards adding it for them all in the newer releases.
VST3 uses less CPU.
Interesting. How do you know that? Can you give a link to your sources please?

There is a lot of good stuff to unfold in each algorithm...

Processing a simple beat programmed with one of my Groove Agent kits with VSM, automating all sorts of parameters in LogicX.

The thing that always amazes me about Sean's plugins is how he only makes reverbs and delays that each has nearly 10 modes and yet none of them, like none of them, sound the same or are redundant. I've learned so much about reverb just by flicking thru the modes on his plugins and reading the descriptions then his blog.

This can be done with vst2 as well but it has to be coded by the plugin developer.
And back in the day the vst3 idle function caused trouble with Exponential Audio.

Well okay. So VST3 uses less CPU when a plugin is in idle. I read it like idle VST3 uses less CPU in general. I think there are some DAWs out there which do the no/less cpu when idle by themselves.
However let's try to stick to the topic.

is nothing but pure love for all people who are into delay/reverb... ofc imho

Sounds really really good, and i'm usually not a big fan of huge swells of delay and reverb.
So that you try it, like it and buy the other plug ins.
It’s not the first time Valhalla have released freeware.

Just for the record Valhalla has to be one of the most cherished and loved developers in the audio community. I've never heard one bad thing about the developers, customer service, or the company in general.

Now that's a hard thing to pull off, so hats off to them for that alone, the freebie is just extra.

Love it  :tu:

Re: VST3 lower CPU, FL Studio has the "Smart Disable" option which zero's all plugin's CPU when not in use - works for VST2 as well.
From what I know VST3 may load marginally faster because they're on your OS drive, but once loaded... I think they're the same. Would appreciate some developer's comments on it though.

There are two kinds of people in the world. And you're not one of them.

metalifuxx wrote: Tue May 19, 2020 7:52 pm Maybe he read and used my idea/suggestion of a plugin that had more control of feedback path modulations and adding effects on long decay, not quite that, but this is still pretty sweet and it also happens to be free. Sean is awesome (and Don).

Hoping for a Valhalla Shimmer v2 now.
Not sure if trolling or not
I had mentioned it a few times before, I thought it was cool if he had seen it and used the idea in the most humble way (i just saw the blog post, so apparently not). Why would i be trolling? I been behind Valhalla DSP since he innitially hinted at Shimmer and gave me an NFR Shimmer license becuase i helped him out providing some guitar samples he used in forum demos for unique uses. 8)

I was excited to test this, but unfortunately VSM falls somewhere between Lagrange and Diffuse, and does neither style as well. Or tbh even sound as good. Anyway, freebies are always cool and welcome so thanks Valhalla, this one didn't quite make the cut.
