Oh there's a Kore style snapshot morphing grid now! You guys need to describe that better than "Macro snapshots" which already existed. Definitely say something like Snapshot morphing XY grid.

Just a play, seems cool. A bit different than I was expecting. I thought we'd be able to morph the snapshots themselves in a grid, but it appears these are like sub snapshots within each snapshot and each position in the grid has to be saved within each saved snapshot. right? And whenever you go from one snapshot to another it goes back to whatever morph square it was saved as? Not sure what I think yet, will have to play some more. Seems complicated, was hoping just for morphing of existing snapshots. But this could have some advantages too, will have to get to know it more.
But some initial observations:
It would be better if the X and Y parameters were automatable. It doesn't seem like they are visible as DAW parameters, only midi assignable? And since they aren't automatable it makes it tough to control with hardware since using a midi cc on a control means that when you chagne snapshots and the X and Y move, then it jumps if you move a midi cc controller, whereas if they were automatable controls, the values would update when the snapshots change, so a hardware pot would update as well, therefor no jump when tweaked again.
Also, there are still no parameter units passed to the DAW for macros. Just blank values. Should at least have the % shown in the upper corner. Ideal would be to pass the original unit if only 1 parameter is mapped and it's the whole range. This is already how it works with internal devices, it would be nice for it to be the same for VSTs.

I've been asking for this since day one - finally!pinki wrote: Wed May 20, 2020 9:56 pm Apologies..yes Kore style morphing is here!
Various layouts for the grid are available. Jump mode and Morph Mode selectable.
Beta.

I hope so - but it does need to be automatable (and I control Kore morphing now with my Lightpad block so would like to do the same with this)

Yes correct.Echoes in the Attic wrote: Wed May 20, 2020 10:12 pm Just a play, seems cool. A bit different than I was expecting. Regarding your observations, I'll let others who know more than me comment. I will say that Kore used cc and I never had a problem or wanted to have it under automation. aMused?

Yeah Kore X and Y were automatable. Pretty essential I'd say.

Well even if there was a logical way to morph entire structures... it would most likely be technically infeasible anyway. On the other hand the Macro Morphing system is designed to be much more limited and thus real-time / automatable.Echoes in the Attic wrote: Wed May 20, 2020 10:12 pmwas hoping just for morphing of existing snapshots
They are already automatable!Echoes in the Attic wrote: Wed May 20, 2020 10:12 pm It would be better if the X and Y parameters were automatable.

Lemur has an amazing use with this type of morphing. I use the bouncing ball object to control the motion of the XY path. Using friction and direction you can get some extraordinary evolving sounds, either rapid or slow, continuous or gradually coming to a halt.

I guess this comes down to what we call things. ‘Snapshot’ in Freestyle is a whole structure, a complete set of plugins and routings. Being able to seemlessly jump from one structural snapshot to another has always been one of the most exciting aspects of Freestyle. But to be able to morph between structures?Echoes in the Attic wrote: Wed May 20, 2020 10:12 pm Just a play, seems cool. A bit different than I was expecting. So yeh, calling them “sub-snapshots” does highlight the terminology.
