Obsession Vs OB-Xa V Poll

To address a couple of points above.
1. An option "Buy whichever sounds better" actually is irrelevant as far as the poll goes. It doesn't answer which one will be bought. So it doesn't help anything as far as determining percentage of sales breakdown. It could go either way.
2. Yes, some people are just pro Synapse or pro Arturia and that's how they will go. But with no Arturia version at all, Synapse becomes their only choice. This can't be insignificant.
3. As far as Reason goes, sure. And let's hope that Reason users alone are enough to make the whole thing moot and that any lost sales will be insignificant as a whole.

As you say this situation isn't ideal for him, Arturia have basically kicked him in the goolies not that I think it was personal.wagtunes wrote: Thu May 21, 2020 1:42 pm
Do I think it will be serious? I have no way of knowing. I hope it's not. I like Richard. I love his products. But certainly this situation can't be ideal for him.
I know I am in the minority but I hope this changes Richards mind about his next Synth project which Tek indicated could be the P600 or the Memorymoog neither of which inspire me especially since I am burnt out by retro Synths.

Except 10 people will buy Arturia and not Obsession, sale or not. Which means just the release of the synth has affected the market share for each company.vurt wrote: Thu May 21, 2020 1:52 pm so 7 out of 36 will buy arturia without waiting...

I mean I don't see how anybody can even argue that. Unless one has a monopoly, one doesn't get the entire market share.
That's business 101.

3 of them werent going to buy synapse either way, so are as irrelevant as the people waiting on which is best.wagtunes wrote: Thu May 21, 2020 1:57 pmExcept 10 people will buy Arturia and not Obsession, sale or not. im jusy saying, the numbers dont seem as worrying as you think, then you have to think some people will buy the arturia because its 49, and wouldnt have bought either at 99.
so the numbers are meaningless really.
the poll doesnt really tell us anything.

Except if there's no Arturia version to buy, maybe they buy Synapse if they're interested in an OB-Xa emulation?AnX wrote: Thu May 21, 2020 2:00 pmwagtunes wrote: Thu May 21, 2020 1:57 pmExcept 10 people will buy Arturia and not Obsession, sale or not. polls are useless for this, theyre good for yes no questions, proper market research would take far more than one question, each with several choices.
the poll tells us nothing.

I think you're wrong Vurt. Take Arturia completely out of the equation and survey people interested in an OB-Xa emulation. You don't think those who would have bought Arturia would now buy Obsession if there's no Arturia to buy?vurt wrote: Thu May 21, 2020 2:02 pm3 of them werent going to buy synapse either way, so are as irrelevant as the people waiting on which is best.wagtunes wrote: Thu May 21, 2020 1:57 pmExcept 10 people will buy Arturia and not Obsession, sale or not. I'm talking about people who really love the OB-Xa and really would love an emulation. This situation absolutely has to affect sales for both companies.
Again, when there is competition, nobody gets 100% of the market.

Anybody who categorically says that Richard will absolutely not lose sales with the current situation is in denial.

no one is categorically stating he wont, what we are saying is that the impact is not shown from the poll. and even if it was, its 1/3 of the sales.wagtunes wrote: Thu May 21, 2020 2:07 pmThen we will agree to disagree.vurt wrote: Thu May 21, 2020 2:05 pmbut we dont know if they would, because thats not asked in the poll.wagtunes wrote: Thu May 21, 2020 2:03 pmExcept if there's no Arturia version to buy, maybe they buy Synapse if they're interested in an OB-Xa emulation?AnX wrote: Thu May 21, 2020 2:00 pmwagtunes wrote: Thu May 21, 2020 1:57 pmExcept 10 people will buy Arturia and not Obsession, sale or not. No, the impact won't be known. The sample size will never be large enough. Plus, there is the Reason variable, which can be huge for Synapse.vurt wrote: Thu May 21, 2020 2:11 pmno one is categorically stating he wont, what we are saying is that the impact is not shown from the poll. and even if it was, its 1/3 of the sales.wagtunes wrote: Thu May 21, 2020 2:07 pmThen we will agree to disagree.vurt wrote: Thu May 21, 2020 2:05 pmbut we dont know if they would, because thats not asked in the poll.wagtunes wrote: Thu May 21, 2020 2:03 pmExcept if there's no Arturia version to buy, maybe they buy Synapse if they're interested in an OB-Xa emulation?

But for my interest in this, the poll tells me enough. Synapse will not make as much money as it could have if Arturia did not release its own version right now.
I think that much, as insignificant as it might be, has been established.
