I'll surely buy Arturia V8 collection at some point. no rush for either. so should my vote be for "neither" or "buy Arturia" ? And I don't think I'll buy synapse, but who knows... I seem to buy everything sooner or later (when the price is right).

So after the demo of the Arturia and what i heard yet from the other one i would say neither since i really do not hear something great. Not even close to what i already have but of course demo Obsession could prove me wrong.
So hard to answer the poll really but the Arturia is out so far. Not that it sounds not good but just not good enough and far away from my other synth(s) which covers the flavor as well and much more.

No one else think that only 8 voices in a poly virtual analog VST is a bit restricting?
Even my DM12 analog hardware has 12!

I'm curious, @davidvilla, are you saying you'd pay up to "$99" for Obsession (assuming it "nails" the sound), even if you could get 3 of Arturia's synths for only $50 more? I'm not judging; I just wonder how many other people are on this fence.davidvilla wrote: Thu May 21, 2020 4:27 pm Arturia's June 9th promo deadline is definitely something I am taking into consideration, and if Synapse do not put out at least a demo to play with before then, I'm jumping on Arturia's.
I'm still on V6, I don't have the $49 deal for OBXA V. But I do have a $149 deal to get not only OBXA V but the other 3 synths in the V7 collection. I need to see Obsession having a dramatic leap in quality over Arturia's AND - at least for ME - it coming out with an aggressive price ($79-$99). I'm counting on Obsession nailing the sound, but if it costs $129, then the value isn't going to be there for me. So essentially, if it sounds better than Arturia's (which I think it will) AND it comes out at a reasonable price, AND all that is revealed BEFORE June 9th, then I'd go with Synapse. But it has to be all three.
I also just have to say that Obsession's beta testers are really annoying and rude and they're making me associate those things with Synapse, so I hope Richard does something about that.
I don't have a horse in this race. I'm in the same Arturia V Collection camp as you (VC6), but right now, DiscoDSP's OB-Xd is doing what I need as far as Oberheim OB-Xa duties right now. I do have the Arturia demo to play with, and I do like their SEM V2. I just don't need much in the way of OB-Xa sounds, so I'm not sure how much I'd consider spending.

This poll needs an option that says "only a complete idiot would make a decision without having had the chance to try them both out first". That's the option I'd vote for.

Yeah, I didn't think of that one so why don't you shoot me Bones. In fact, I'll even buy you the gun so it'll look like a suicide.BONES wrote: Fri May 22, 2020 6:09 am This poll needs an option that says "only a complete idiot would make a decision without having had the chance to try them both out first". Thats putting it bluntly, but ultimately true because in the end (unless youre simply collecting) there are only 2 things that really matter:BONES wrote: Fri May 22, 2020 6:09 am This poll needs an option that says "only a complete idiot would make a decision without having had the chance to try them both out first". - Which of the 2 is more accurate/true to the original synth
- Can or can i not do the same with something i already have
If the answer to the second question is no, and only a dedicated OB-Xa emulation will do, then the answer lies in question 1.
Seems pretty obvious to me, so thats how i would approach this if i wasnt sure what to do.

I agree. I screwed up. Would you like a gun too?ENV1 wrote: Fri May 22, 2020 11:09 amThats putting it bluntly, but ultimately true because in the end (unless youre simply collecting) there are only 2 things that really matter:BONES wrote: Fri May 22, 2020 6:09 am This poll needs an option that says "only a complete idiot would make a decision without having had the chance to try them both out first".
