Maybe, I don’t know much about them...I don’t see much about their plug ins stand alone personally...most DAWs I assume make a certain percentage revenue from new customers and the rest from selling updates to a large user base....Kongru wrote: Wed May 20, 2020 10:07 pmDo they not make their money from selling the plugins?SLiC wrote: Wed May 20, 2020 9:03 pm FL Studio seems to come out as the most prolific and most populous DAW in most surveys I have seen...You have to wonder how FL survives with free updates for life...surely some point almost everybody who wants a copy of FL Studio has one!
Ableton Live ($700) doomed? Now Logic ($200) got huge update.

I always saw FL Studio as a way for Image Line to get people to try stuff like Harmor, Sytrus, Grossbeat and buy them to use in other DAWs if they switch. Complete speculation obviously.SLiC wrote: Wed May 20, 2020 10:13 pmMaybe, I don’t know much about them...I don’t see much about their plug ins stand alone personally...most DAWs I assume make a certain percentage revenue from new customers and the rest from selling updates to a large user base....Kongru wrote: Wed May 20, 2020 10:07 pmDo they not make their money from selling the plugins?SLiC wrote: Wed May 20, 2020 9:03 pm FL Studio seems to come out as the most prolific and most populous DAW in most surveys I have seen...You have to wonder how FL survives with free updates for life...surely some point almost everybody who wants a copy of FL Studio has one!

Nearly 30 year mac user/owner here. 10 year Logic user. *LOVE* Logic, but I've had it up to here with lack of features I need. A few months before 10.5 dropped I demoed Lite, and upgraded to Suite just a few days before 10.5 was released.
There's no way I will go back to Logic for the foreseeable future. The lack of modulation, crappy automation and busted PDC (which has been broken for years) has made me ditch Logic.
