I must admit I find all the elitism and Arturia bashing a little unbecoming and in some way rubs off against Synapse through association...
X32 Desk, i9 PC, S88MK3, S1, BWS, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6 Pro3, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone II, OP1-F, OPXY, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

Your poll represents a static picture of roughly where we’re at right now regarding the decision to to purchase either/or/both/neither of the plugins - that could change substantially when OBsession is actually available - this is the bright shiny new object/honeymoon period for Aurturia.

If OBsession is available several months from now: there’s a lot of realistic pictures that I could draw for you that wouldn’t necessarily be visible at this point in time - pictures that might reinforce the idea that Arturia releasing their version first could be helping future sales of OBsession - this could be especially true if side-by-side apples-to-apples video comparisons consistently favor OBsession over Arturia’s V version. That’s possible; but we don’t know what we don’t know - and we cannot predict the future.

If someone had told me what an absolutely bizarre year 2020 was going to be - that it was going to bite us all in the a$$ starting around March here in the USA - I would have thought that they were insane.

Yet here we all are.

Bottom line: we can’t ultimately predict what’s going to happen with Synapse’s OBsession’s sales - especially when it isn’t even available yet.

True, but, I surely would not buy the synth because of that. If anything then Richard is not to blame for his beta testers. :D (even though I really don't consider them as offputting. I met u-he and Valhalla fanbois here which are much more annoying, and stupid.)

Absolutely true. But how many people who already bought the Arturia are going to also purchase Obsession? Yes, I know we have a lot of collectors here. I'm one of them. But even I have no need for 2 OB-Xa synths.

Ironically, I've decided NOT to get Arturia. The resonance falls apart in comparison. It's very disappointing. So if Obsession isn't any better, I won't be getting either. But Arturia is out. The only way I will ever own it is if I update my V Collection (currently V6) someday. And that's not happening for a long time as I just don't need anything.

U-he is great BTW. I'm just not too fond of their fans.

Any Arturia plugin that is not part of a collection can be sold - and since the intro price is so low compared to its msrp: those that already have the V7 like myself could sell it and likely get all their $ back and then some, if their sale is timed correctly.

So: you don’t have to own (2) OBXA clones - you could be blown away by OBsession when it’s released & demoed; and sell the Arturia.

I guess also we all hear things different and judge them different as well. Now that i saw a lot comparisons and heard all the demos of hardware against software and also people posted here there is nothing really special what i hear i cannot do already with half of my plug-ins. Some even have more balls and meat :)
But lets discuss the rainbow farting unicorn.
I mean i think in the things i saw the hardware was better but still not better than some software synths which are not even a OB emulation but sounds almost better anyway.
Is that lockdown syndrome?

No, just personal preference. :)

Here:

And I don’t think that Arturia charges you anything when you sell/transfer a license.

Indeed. It is just that some people think their meaning is a fact.
Maybe people with a perfect pitch could judge it or an A.I. and say what we should like because we are not supposed to have our own meaning. :D
F.e. the example sound you wanted to be recreated in the (for me) forbidden thread is nothing special for me and i say i can do that with at least 2-3 synths and even better (which would be for me Dagger and P900 f.e.) but i bet you would say it does not sound that good. So in general all comparisons made by other are meaningless until you not really use it in real-time but they are still useful as inspiration or to see for people like me who never played the real thing and ask me now what is so special. We are all biased anyway if we want or not.
