60s - Dozens of great bands. Hard to choose.

70s - Thousands of great bands. Harder to choose.

80s - OMG the 60s and 70s bands are getting old and being replaced by girly men. But still too many good bands to choose.

90s - None

00s - WTB Mr. Peebodies Way Back Machine

60s - Velvet Underground

70s - Joy Division

80s - (tie) Public Enemy/Sonic Youth (toughest one for me to pick, also would add close seconds for New Order, Pixies, Smiths, Jesus and Mary Chain, Skinny Puppy, Metallica)

90s - Aphex Twin (not a band, but he's the one to beat as far as I can see)

00s - Too early to say, only four years in, lots of great stuff, but nothing has risen to the top yet - New Pornographers, Manitoba (now Caribou), ISAN, Fennesz, Acid Mothers Temple, Godspeed You Black Emperor, Devendra Banhart, Mad Villain, Sole, Styrofoam, Tim Hecker, Isis, Johnathan Coleclough, Stars of the Lid, Interpol, Wilco (may have been a fluke), etc.

I chose to ignore it.

I wasn't around in the 60s, and the 70s was listening to nursery tunes (somehow Roger Whittaker's Boa Constrictor hasn't quite held up after all these years), but was there for the rest.

60's -was only young, but the Beatles and Stones were what i was brought up on

70's -hard to say, i loved Sweet and Gary Glitter

80's -Depeche Mode/New Order/The Cult

90's -early 90's Nine Inch Nails, late 90's Cosmosis and Stay up Forever artists (Acid Techno)
