Was just wondering what VST synth would be best for getting that classic 303 sound?
I know there are some VST instruments focused creating only 303 sounds, but I need a synth that can do "good" 303 + other sounds too (it doesn't need to be 100% perfect 303). Especially when those 303 synths seem to be near 100e price range. There is a free 303 vst, but it is not in 64bit version :/

And extra point if the synth can get that Faithless "pluck" sound (starts at 2.16: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P8JEm4d6Wu4) :help:

Old school with modern sounds :hihi:

ANA2 has good beefy oscillators modeled after some classics and some of the squelchiest filters I've heard in any synth, so I think it would be a pretty good pick. Pigments, no not for that kind of sound.

what synths do you have?

Just saw someone selling d16 phoscyon license for 35€.. Can't get much better than that.

use a square, lo pass filter, tweak with the res and freq. play mono, add legato. passable 303. add distortion and maybe a phaser :tu:

A lot of "modern" synths have 303 patches (ANA, Rapid, Dune, etc). And I bet they can do also the Insomnia famous pluck. Try some demo, especially Ana which now is on sale for a great price.

The best non-303 synth I've heard producing classical 303 sounds was DUNE. But that's of course subjective.

Spire seems like a good choice - it's on sale right now, too. It has the "Acido" filter which the manual describes as: type does not repeat at 100%, but good for simulating TB-303 sounds and not only. Modes: LP1, LP2, LP3, LP4

Spire has a 3-pole filter option like the original 303, which you don't find on a lot of synths - though tbh, I'm not sure how essential it is for the 303 sound.

Here's a YouTube video I didn't watch, but you might find interesting...

Ana2: I don't have

Serum: rather NO

Pigments: I would say, this is the best option:
Pigments 303

My favourite 303 is Phoscyon, but among "general purpose" synths id' say Spire, Dune 3 and Massive X do the best 303 sounds.

Some 303ish stuff is probably doable in Serum too but it won't be my first choice for that. Don't have Ana or Pigments so can't comment.
You may think you can fly ... but you better not try

I think the following video gives a better example on how to achieve a 303-ish sound with Spire:
