I tried to read the German article (google translated) and I read about half of it, but listened to the examples and there were obvious difference between the OB6 and OB Xa!
Anyway, the thing is OB Xa is in general more aggressive (due maybe to the resonance or filter), so that means Arturia needs to update their code to match the real one.

In any case, for $49 upgraded price, it is crazy not to buy it! It still sounds great IMO. Personally, I don't care a bit if it sounds authentic or not! If I like it, I buy it. Simple as that :)
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

Most people out there are in the same boat, including me, and Arturia knows that well. :tu:

After listening couple of demos, I think they should have given it away for free.

Code aside. Arturia OB-Xa can scream like a disgruntled bat if you use the Multimode filter.
There are two kinds of people in the world. And you're not one of them.

So the resonance even goes into ultrasound territory?

To be honest, I didn't yet delve into the Multimode filter yet! There is also the X-mod that is not present in the original and can be also a factor in those edgy sounds. But the more I play with it, the more I discover things that I like. I will spend tonight with it (as I have other synths still in the waiting list to be delved into! DX7 V and CZ V mainly).
Anyway, even if they don't update their code, this synth is a beast and it is the best analogue synth that Arturia came with till now :tu:

The arguments become a little bizarre. "If the Arturia OB-Xa V's filter isn't authentic enough for you, just use the generic multimode filter in the fx section". Well, that filter isn't authentic at all, because it wasn't even modelled on the OB-Xa's filters (neither were the MSEG's). Might as well just route the synth into a filter plugin then, and use that.

First i want to mention that i am no "Arturia hater" at all just because i like and/or prefer the OBsession plugin where i am using the Beta for a while now and made tons of patches with it.

I had used Arturia plugins since around 14 years where i started with boxed versions of Prophet V and Jupiter-8 V when they were originally released (the boxes included an eLicenser dongle back then so i did not have to buy one).
Arturia Spark 2 (using it with the V-Collection 4 license) is still one of my favorite drum synths besides Xils Lab StiX.

Until some years ago (also when upgrading to V-Collection 6) i had the same opinion about most Arturia plugins but especially in the last 3 years i got a bit more picky concerning the basic sound quality when plugins like e.g. The Legend, Repro-5, Roland Cloud Jupiter-8 and now OBsession (still in Beta) arrived. Not to forget Diva of course which is a bit older already than those just mentioned.

Besides the replacements just mentioned the other Arturia plugins mostly are still the way to go for me and FWIW DX7 V already mostly replaced NI FM 8 for me.
For plugins like e.g. Synclavier V, CMI V and Matrix-12 V2 there is no real replacement anyway (at least so far) and SEM V2 sounds great "as is". I am not using another dedicated SEM clone at the moment (like e.g. bx_oberhausen).
Concernig Prophet V i am still using the VS plugin and the hybrid plugin for which i od not see a proper replacement.

I also like Xils Lab plugins (where i got most of them) and for most of their analog emulations there is no replacement at the moment. Examples are Syn'X 2, PolyKB III and PolyM.

Having said all that at the moment i am not much interested in new plugins in V-Collection 7 and mostly due to already using OBsession also not in OB-Xa V (FWIW i checked the demo and still got it installed) while it is possible that i might upgrade with one of the upcoming versions of V-Collection like e.g. VC 8.

It is absolutely OK to prefer one synth over another, but people may get a bit fed of beta testers saying a synth that no one else can hear is so much better than another one.

Perhaps wait until they are both out before stating one is better than another so that we can all joint in the debate...there are other factors than the sound (which is subjective but I suspect it will be superb) such as polyphony, CPU use, browser, cost etc., it will be good we can 'all' compare both side by side.

Yes, I remember and I'm not Arturia fan (or any other's!). I even was demoing Matrix 12 yesterday and I really liked it!! I remembered when you kept mentioning in the past and asked myself, why I didn't like it before?!.

Well, there is something, maybe it is factor in listening. I used to listen with headphones (Sennheiser HD 280 still using them). Nowadays I'm mostly listening with my 6.5" Yamaha monitors and I believe they are more accurate and natural (neutral) sounding. So, let's put this away now.

I sold my V Collection before (I think it was V 5) as I wanted more accurate analogue synths. After having Diva, Repro, The legend, Korg Arp oddyssey mainly. I begin to also search for digital and other synths. I bought Pigments 2, and I didn't like it at all (still don't like the sound), then sold it. Anyway, I liked DX7 V and blown away by CZ V (I love it  ), so the most effective way is to buy the Collection again during a discount. I got it with OB Xa V. Now, I didn't like OB Xa a lot at the beginning and I immediately felt the filter is "weak" compared to Diva and ARP Odyssey, but in the end I didn't care because I already have such synths! Screamers!

I don't know! I like OB Xa V after all. Not playing with the filter, but I can get wonderful sounds with it and maybe I will get SA one if the price is right as I guess that Richard will nail the filter, but even then I will still like Artutia's one as it has nice ideas in programing it at least :)

After my previous Audio-Technica headphones were broken i purchased a pair of beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro (250 Ohm) and really love it so far.

Yep! It is time to save for good headphones! Let me see how much is the DT 990 here! :o

Actually it is not expensive! I also found for a little bit more DT770 M 80 ohm.
