Hmm so the plugin sounds super close to the actual synth.
I wonder how the person did that though? Did they make the patch on the real synth first and then copy it on the plugin or the other way around?

I hear it as “close in many cases” - not super close. I bet in person it’d be even easier to tell the difference, though, as YT audio doesn’t seem to capture live synths well.
The Arturia sounds good... plenty good to use to make music.

Going by the youtube clip posted here by waltercruz I think the hardware unit sounds smoother on some patches, the Arturia sounds like it is stepping through the 7th Osc sweep. Not sure if that's because there's an a lfo in use or midi resolution?
Overall the Arturia does a good enough job for most cases.

Some patches I thought the Arturia sounded better (rounder, smoother) some the hardware (more high/sizzle in some of the hardware patches which to be honest would probably be tamed in a mix anyway!)
Close enough for me.

Of course there's always this coming out at some point in the future...

The Arturia seems to have a slightly more forward digital sounding mid frequency compared to the Oberheim. The original sounds slightly thinner but more pleasing
on some presets whereby the Arturia sounds more forward in a good way on some presets. Overall I do prefer the sound of the original but think that with a little bit of tweaking it would be possible to get the Arturia closer... but no cigar:)

Obession isn't software either. It's currently vapourware.

Well, from hearing/watching the video. I wasn't surprised. Arturia's one has a little bit weak filter/resonance and the patches related to that can show without doubts. I believe everything else is really good. Maybe if Arturia is serious about it, then they could update it with another filter (Like Korg has three filters in one). So, one is the current one, and the other one is the enhanced filter (nearer to the original).
Still, very good job IMO. Fantastic workflow and design and it can produce wonderful sounds. Personally I'm very satisfied even if Arturia doesn't want to update it. Let's see SA if Richard can nail the filter (it means another must buy! )
