Hi elv!
It's about who has more. they both work in the same way sequencer-wise, but Muzys has 16 channels, while you only get 8 in CMuzys. You can load 32 VSTi in Muzys, but you're limited to 5 in CMuzys – also polyphony is limited, to what extent, I don't know.
The biggest difference would be the fantastc "Muyznth" , a very cool synth/sampler that the "real" Muzys had.
Now for some sad facts:
Unfortunately, Muzys's development is discontinued and you should perish the thought of ever getting your hands on anything else than CMuzys, unless some user sells them their licence/give them to you
So, essentially you're stuck with CMuzys either way
I know and own CMuzys and it ain't bad at all!
As usual, Caleb will be able to go a little deeper still on everything Muzys, he'll probably reply in time

Recently Jo (the creator of Muzys) announced he is working on something, so god only knows what's on the way. But even better than Muzys, that's for sure
Eventually something intelligent will appear written here. Watch this space.

Hehe well I knew that,
Bonteburg thank you for your response,
just tried the Muzys 3 demo and liked it very much, but I didnt want to buy CM for it if there version would be very limited, wich Bonteburg says it is.
Guess I will still be looking for a new host

Yeah CMuzys is still quite good for what it is - free with a mag.
However, Muzys 3 was a complete evolutionary step forward. It's sampling engine was developed into a monster sound design utility with fully-featured sampler/synthesiser all integrated.
As Bonte mentioned, the basical structure of music creation (sequencing) is the same and quite frankly that's what I found to be the biggest strength of Muzys in the first place.
But the limitations become evident quite quickly if you're trying to put together a more complex track on CMuzys. You have to think your way around the limitations which is never the most ideal way to work.
In all honesty Muzys 3 is a fantastic package, but I believe it may be some time before we find out what it is evolving into next. It may be well worth the wait - but everything would be purely speculation at this time.
If you are looking for an inexpensive sequencer by the way - have a look at EnergyXT. I'm using this currently and although it really is missing so many things I love about Muzys in terms of the raw sequencing power, it does offer some amazing options not available in Muzys or quite a few other hosts.
For a start, it has just had a fully-fledged sampler integrated which has quite a few options you will struggle to find on any software sampler in a host or out of a host (based on my somewhat narrow experience).
It has a modular environment which allows you to construct all kinds of music creation utilities and can be used as an instrument or effect inside another host or even in itself. You'd probably be surprised at what it's capable of.
It has disk streaming audio (which Muzys never had).
Sorry - I'm really dragging this way Off-topic but I thought if you happened to be asking this question because you're looking for a software host and you can't purchase Muzys - have a look at the value you will get from EnergyXT and an extraordinarily low price.

Thanks Caleb.
I have been watching eXT for some time now and what you get for the price is just mindblowing, but what I dont like about it:is all those windows all over the place, dont get my wrong I think it is a great app but I looking just for something else.
Tracktion seemed really good, but I guess I like pattern based seq more.
Man this is really sad I tried Muzys maybe 2 years ago and just didnt get it(was stuck in Reason then) but now(after the move to VSTi) I totally get it and think it just great, blend of linear/pattern seq, the Synth in has a really nice sound to it, built in wav editor(with beatslicer) dont think it can get much better than it............
Anyone wanna donate there old copy of Muzys 3.....
I will give it good home

I agree - I've never seen anything better than Muzys 3 for composing.
Remember - I think Muzys will make a return possibly under another name or something at some stage. Speculation I know - but Jo was very committed to having Muzys continue in some form whatever arrangements he has made.
I personally would like to see him become the brains behind the next incarnation of Muzys in partnership with another company. But who knows really.

Hey Elv just hot off the press, the new 'beta' of eXT allows you to dock all those windows in a nice tight package. The reason i put 'beta' in quotes is Jorgen does not have the same definition of beta as most. By the time an eXT beta goes out it is as stable as most other apps 'upgrades'. It is more like a beta is a minor upgrade in eXT.elv wrote:what I dont like about it:is all those windows all over the place, dont get my wrong I think it is a great app but I looking just for something else.

ok, i have heard and read all about how Muzys is all that. Now i have a bit of a logisitcal/ethical question. Being that it is now longer available(/being supported) what about the rest of us who never got the chance at it? Would it be ethical to distribute freely? This is really a bigger question then just Muzys. When a product dies what are the moral obligations? There are a ton of products i wish were still out there (Dr T comes to mind).
