I guess he should have played the lower notes an octave lower also.
That was my very thought too, but I was grateful that he took the time to record it for us to hear so I said nothing.

Compare and contrast? Here's an old Jump patch I made with Diva many years back..

I believe he layered it a few times and it was just part of a great song.
imho.

Could have sworn I had read it in Keyboard Magazine almost 35 years ago, that he multitracked it. Can't find it now. But this is interesting.

They said he used an OB-X not an OBX-a for it?

Or maybe not.

Still sounds a tad clean and less beefy, but, that's my OCD, I guess.

Also I think I read he recorded it thru a Fender Amp? Maybe one of the layers? I don't know..

It's really not. The example is anaemic. Hopefully it's just in the patch editing, otherwise Diva will whip its ass for Oberheim sounds..

Sigh... here we go again.

Guys, 50% (my highly scientific number) of ”the Jump sound” is EQ, reverb, and other mixing / production tricks, not the synth sound itself. (Still, very often when I hear someone try to recreate the sound, they don’t even get the basic synth patch right, or play the riff correctly).

Here’s my old recreation, using DiscoDSP OB-XD, but it probably could have been many other synths too, that’s only part of the sound. First half is me, 2nd half is the original song.

And talking about Obsession, I’ll definitely get it when it’s out. I love synths, I love synth sounds, I love old analog synths, and I have no doubt Synapse will do a great job with the plugin.
