These 2 synths don't offer any demo to try?
So are the youtube "demos" only one available :scared:
Like this one of Nexus3:

Post

YOu are right, no demo for these two.
And if you go deeper: Omnisphere is "worse" because there are no different bundles, only one package: the full omnisphere is there to buy, while Nexus has 3 different editions.
I also rather like those softwares I can demo.
However, Omnisphere is the "top" of the music softwares, so if you take a trip to a local distributor music shop, there's a chance you can demo there Omni.

Nexus vs Triton:

Indeed imo no demo is usually a reason to not buy. Not only soundwise but also for stability or to see if it is running at all. I'd say Omnisphere is still worth it while I'd leave my hands off of Nexus.

You don't need a demo of Omnisphere, its awesome!
If you don't eat yer meat, you can't have any pudding. HOW CAN YOU HAVE ANY PUDDING IF YOU DON'T EAT YER MEAT!?

please inform yourself first, Nexus3 is NO SYNTH! it is a rompler!
Omnisphere is a full synth incl. Granular synth etc. + A HUGE and unique library!

for bread and butter sounds asap nexus3 is a good choice but omnisphere is VERY cheap what it offers. it is so full of features etc. you can spend ages in it.

A demo for Nexus2 was available (if you owned a USB eLicenser, so any Cubase user could demo it for free for example). I don't know about Nexus3 but just create an account on https://refx.com/register/ open a ticket and request a demo.
Maybe they still offer a demo somehow.

Post

Yeah, I am a bit worried if I can't try any demo = does my computer have enough power to run it, do I know how to use the synth etc :D But, I have heard many good comments especially about Omnisphere (so it is very intriguing). Maybe just need to try to watch more youtube videos about it...

There are so many videos out there that there's no way you gonna buy either of them without knowing exactly what you gonna get.

I'll just say this:
If you care about sound design, go for omnisphere, because you can't do that in nexus.
If you are mainly after the presets, don't but any of them.
Buy korg's trirton and or roland's xv-5080 (the vsts), those are 20 years old but from my experience, those sounds always work and you'll find a suitable sound in a matter of seconds.
I own omnisphere, nexus3, triton, xv5080 and hardware yamaha moxf6, I can tell you that the big 3 Japanese have the best presets you gonna find. It's always a straightforward process working with their instruments, very minimal tweaking (if at all) and you got a production ready sound to go.

Omnisphere has too many presets, 14k actually, most of them are very film soundtrack oriented, unless you are in that genre you gonna waste a lot of time and creative energy finding something that is really useable.

Nexus is very one-dimensional, most of the presets have the exact "edm reverb bloated" vibe that is so overused and boring these days, plus those expanions packs where they sell you the exact same sounds with minor changes in fx and eq is just a way to milk noobs.

Imo, korg+roland+yamaha are the kings in terms of presets, afaik yamaha don't offer something relevant in terms of vsts, so check out roland's xv-5080 and korg's triton.
Or even better, buy one of the latest hardware synths of any of them, way better than omni and nexus for sure.

I think I will skip the synths without demo...
I know myself, I need really test if the synth works for my use (I can watch youtube videos and be "wow yeah this is AMAZING I need it!!"... but when I try it myself it might feel some how very wrong/clumsy for my use). And after all, there are many great synths to choose from - this just helps the process a bit to eliminate at least couple of options from the long long list :D

Omnisphere is just fantastic, but yeah, I can imagine its 4 DSP OSC + FX might be quite heavy for older machine. Still I think its lighter than Diva. (We use both extensively)

omnisphere can be used in many different genres, and quite unique.
On the other hand, nexus is rather edm oriented, and its vibe is similar to avenger.
korg triton is also super good, and super small.

I assume you see the irony in all of that.
Guess who was Roland's chief sound designer during the XV-5080 and before days?
One Eric Persing.

I assume what you really mean is more bread and butter workstation sounds, cause indeed he has said several times he got tired of making those which is why omnisphere is so much less about workstations, been there done that sounds.

Why you quote half of my post and make yourself a gigantic douche?
That's exactly what I said, omnisphere got 14k presets, most of them are very experimental.
Jeez.

Post

I quoted the part that was relevant to my response.
A lot of them are experimental, I am not sure if most of them is still true.
But my main point was Eric's part in both, which was not part of your post.
