Studio One V2.6 Provides A Higher Quality GUI Than V4.6

Having started on version 2.6 of Studio One, it's surprising how one can forget just how bold and sharp the GUI of a previous version was in many respects, when compared to what has been delivered since in subsequent releases... I really hope V5.0 has been a focus of priority in putting the GUI right with the care and attention provided in the releases up to V2.6, if one doesn't have full customisability of font's and colour control.... To save time running around my own studio, here's someone who did in their comparison with 2.6 and 4.5.

How did I know this Thread was created by THE INTRANCER just by looking at the title..
The post above this is likely bait, viewer discretion is advised.

By being short and concise...

The drama man. The drama.

I considered making a placard and walking around town to protest but posting a video made by someone else that highlights the issues would have better results for discussion.

Honestly, I found the video by accident in the process of research in building a new website...(slowly but surely) honestly I've spent more time on page 3 & 4 of KVR than anywhere else really in the past 2 weeks.

I hate you INTRANCER for opening this old wound! It's the very reason I stopped updating years ago, and I've been bitter about it for a long time. I won't say that the whole design of the post Studio One 2 theme looks like garbage, but what they turned it into overall with that flat dark theme is just unacceptable to me. The last demo I tried was the worst.
They just ignore it, just like Steinberg is doing with Cubase in which they actually removed the ability to make a good light theme. These companies need to realize that there are some people that don't use their DAW in a bathroom with the lights turned off, and actually need a light theme. To me, Studio One 2 had the perfect balance, and is the very reason that I hopped on board. IIRCC, Cubase 7 had that same balance and lost it an update or two later. Why the hell they didn't just keep that balance while giving those who wish to use a dark theme their fair share, is beyond me. Total trash, because I loved Studio One's workflow and feature set, but I just can't use it without getting pissed off after a couple of hours of using it. I gave up on thinking that they would improve this a while ago. Thanks INTRANCER, now it's gonna take me at least a month to calm down from this...

That's right. Reminds me of Cubase up until 6.5, before GUIs changed to the worse. :ud:

The biggest surprise for me in this thread is that the OP didn't have the blueprints for the perfect Studio One GUI in his drawer since 1996.

Yes, I agree that 2.6 looks so much better...

With my preferred main DAW Reason the user thankfully has the choice between the common fashionable gloom and a wonderful light theme... :tu:

It looks more clear, definitely. But, better? I don't know... the 2.6 GUI has sort of a ancient Windows XP charme I'm not too fond about. ;)

I'd agree though that Presonus can still improve the GUI. Although it works fine for me already.

  That's how I felt. Took me some time to realize that it was better to just dump Studio One and move on.

That's what I love about Reason. Vibrancy!

As always chk, valid point, but I'd rather the Windows XP charm, than the huge block of grey whatever it is, that they turned it into since version 2. To be honest, I don't even care that they changed it, but they could have at least put some effort into making a "real" light theme for those who require it. It's not asking too much.
