Hi All!

Something just occurred to me, if we listen to a preset on say a Roland Juno 2, on You Tube, we are listening to it digitally, even though it's analogue.

How much still sounds like the original? Will the digital elements be altering the sound, I suppose they must be but they still sound good.

Thanks!

yes. for the worse. primarily bandwidth reduction and lossy codecs.

I wonder if people also don't watch movies in the cinema because the capturing in picture and sound doesn't offer the same experience as they would in the real world.

Or... listen to lossy audio files on music streaming services. Or this or that.

I often heard the argument. "You can't judge the synth from Youtube vids". I'd rather say you can't fully judge it by not sitting in front of it, and fiddling with it yourself. If you can't hear a synth's general character on a Youtube sound demo, you better look for another hobby of profession.

The You Tube vids will still be relative to other You Tube vids though of VST's haha!

I doubt the average person would be listening / watching a movie like a professional as in a producer would with music lol!

Main problem of digital world is that reproduce the same picture it capture from the source, the beauty of analog is the noise,so if you don't like the sound,it's not the synth you are looking for :)
