I have a keyboard that supports polyphonic aftertouch (ROLI LUMI) and I have some synths that do such as the wonderful MemoryMoon ME80 but my longstanding DAW of choice (Ableton Live) only supports channel pressure. Can anyone recommend a free or cheap host that supports it as I would like to try it to see what I'm missing so that I can then decide if it's worth me ultimately investing in a new DAW and ultimately buying something like say Bitwig?

I'd go with Cubase. I personally used Studio One for years, Ableton some, Reason some, etc. I have found Cubase Pro to be very rewarding. It's been around a long time so there's a lot of settings and a learning curve, but I think it's worth it. They have some of the best midi editing available and full MPE support.

I use Reaper with MPE synths and The Roli Seaboard 49.
Works just fine like in this video.

Cakewalk supports poly aftertouch, for free.
