I must say it suits you better than the helmet, but next time drop the tie. It's too formal, you'd make more of a statement without it.spaceman wrote: this is roughly what most goat parties look like

I wasn't talking to you spaceman. Funny that you sit and make rude comments, though claim you like Goa in other threads. Ex. Whatever though. This place isn't even fun anymore.

I think the problem here is we got 2 major gangs. The electronica "I love anything with a 4/4 beat" gang , and the older dudes who grew up on Classic stuff.
You need to be more like me, A diehard Rush Addict (the greatest progressive band of all time) and diehard a TranceAddict, the greatest dance music of all time.

Jungle High was a great tune. I was never that much of a fan of most of the JR output though.Goa Head wrote:Ex. Juno Reactor.

Hmm... trance tips.
Well from my experience, the main thing about trance is to keep everything simple and punchy. Building a trance track is sort of like... ok, well no analogies, I'll just explain.
First you have your four on the floor kick. It doesn't have to be, but it's kind of a genre-defining aspect. Then you have your bass; the kick and the bass are the first two things you should really be considering. If they don't meld together like liquid, the rest of the track won't really have a solid base (or bass, for that matter).
What kind of bass, you say? Anything. Nothing too rezzy for the bass; you'll have plenty of rez in your other synths. Square, Saw, whatever. A sub wouldn't really do here. Just something with a nice punchy filter env.
As for kick, this is really not that complicated. It can be high and clicky or warbly, it can be low and plunky if you want; choose based on what kind of feel you want. Better yet, mix and match and layer.
Then you might want to add hi-hats. Really, I find that 909 open hats are the best for this type of thing (I've tried alternatives, it just makes it alot harder to make it actually fit into the sound). 909 hats are so popular for a reason. Don't make the beat too complicated; if you want to you can, but there's no real reason to if you're just trying to create trance. Snare isn't really too big a deal here.
Once you have all that, think of a cheesy chord progression (or not so cheesy if you wish) and implement it. Then you're off to adding your other synths.
What kind of synths? Any kind. Just make sure they're catchy. Lots of cut-off modulation. Sync and high-resonance are favorites. They don't have to be overly complicated; they just have to sound good and have lots of movement.
And that's just about it, besides compression, which I'm sure most people know more about than I do.
