Hi All!

Has anyone noticed on the Reason Rack Plug-In in Reaper, when pressing the keys (in this case it was Kong) on the piano in the midi editor, it plays the sound very loud, like it's full velocity? it's maxing out my mixer channel like 12dB.

I draw in the note and the velocity is full too so I lessen it. When playing now, the note is fine, no maxing out my mixer channel but when pressing the piano key for the same sound again on the same key, same, very loud.

Had a look around and can't see one but is there a setting for this, to automatically stop it playing a key at maximum velocity? Nothing I can see in Midi Editor Settings in Preferences.

Just had a look at the behaviour in Reason and by default, it sets the velocity to 100 out of 127 (same range in Reaper) and in FL Studio, 80% by default.

In the MIDI Editor, full-velocity notes are sent at about 75% across the piano roll key. Pressing halfway across the key sends note with a velocity of about 90.

For inserted notes I get a default velocity of 96; have a look at this thread:

Thanks for your help, that's great. It even remembers the velocity of where you pressed the key when adding a note in the midi editor. Reaper just gets better.
