m-ac wrote: Tue Jun 09, 2020 1:46 pm Manuel, you might have missed my question a couple of pages back. I asked if it were possible to have the arp show numbers instead of it showing notes and being based around C. Something like 0, +3, -2 etc, instead of C, D#, A#. It currently makes it confusing when you're not playing in C.
The number system was actually used in older versions. They moved onto the note key names in recent versions.
Do you know if it's possible to toggle between numbers or letters? The note system really doesn't make sense IMO if it doesn't know what key you're playing in.
I don't think its possible to toggle.

Not true. Many examples given in this thread.
No, wrong. Avenger has not been cracked since 1.5. codemeter.
Some other Codemeter softwares had been eventually cracked, but that does not mean anything. Every protection is unique, and its up to the developer how "secure" the implementation is (means how many blockades and protections are built into). CodeMeter is just the tool to do that. Its not that you crack "any" codemeter product and then automatically have cracked all others.
I really love the drum functionality. Last night I was bouncing the various patterns to audio and then arranging them. Is there a way to switch patterns and kits via MIDI so that I can have one MIDI track that can contain the drum variations for my whole song?
you should export Avengers Drumsequencer to MIDI then. Just rightclick in the DrumSQ "export to MIDI". then you can re-import into your daw. Then turn off the drumsequencer in Avenger and let the DAW play your exported drumSQ MIDI(s)
Thanks I didn't know about that feature!

honestly, no we dont want back to the number system. You have no idea as well in which key you are if there is +5 -4 +2 -7 +3 +8 on the first sight. We are musicians not mathematicans, right? ;) Maybe it will be optional one day, but in the chord page its impossible
Ps be aware that all our Arps and Sequences in XPs are double checked by me to be on a C scale by default.

Hmm, maybe I'm missing something because currently I have to be a super mathematician to work out the notes. If I go into the arp and press a G, I have to calculate and convert the interval amounts between the notes shown to work out the notes that are actually being played by the arp. What about the option to choose a root key so it shows the correct notes in the arp, is that possible?

Edit: same feature for chords would be nice too.

supermathematican to figure out, that an A is +2 from a G? hmm

Ok, no need to be a smartass. If you don't think my suggestion is a good one, feel free to ignore it but IMO basing everything on an arbitrary C is confusing and it'd be far more intuitive if you could change the root.

Also FWIW, I just realised the +/- value is still shown at the bottom of the arp display so that's my fault.

Just to add:
Basing a sequencer on C doesn't make a lot of sense when you're playing in the key of G (and God forbid Ab or Bb).

haha, you are right, just forgot about that, since I never look on these numbers. So then everyone is pleased now :)

?? I just said, our arps are based on C, like it shoud be... not on any other note, so then you would have an offset. For example a sound designer programs the ARP in D and then you press F on your keyboard it would play back a G in reality (+2 offset to your keyboard)

Post

If an arp is programmed in D and I press an F - I'd expect +3. So in key of C that's a E - but I'm playing in Ab - so you see, it's never gonna be simple ;)

come on guys its not that hard... I mean everyone knows a Cmajor scale or learn a Cminor scale. and if you learn a bit of music theory you would know that a perfect fifth is 7st up. cool your key is G well then draw the C in the Daw and programm the ARP in intervalls bc it doesnt matter if it says C +7 you will always play the perfect fifth off the key you trigger the ARP. I mean if this is such a big problem just disable the ARP and programm the notes in the DAW???? its even far better than programming a pattern on a 303, so get over it. Once you suggested a change and Manual read it its good enough you dont need to complain about this all the time. If they would change it someone else wants the other thing again. Yeah I get it a toggle might be usefull but on the other hand you can program the notes in the DAW as well... and if you want to see the notes you can record them put of Avenger on a midi channel and probably devs thought more about this than you guys who only complain...

Post

OK just relax - we're only talking ;)
We're *just* saying that working in "C" when you're not actually in the key of C is not easier than working with numbers.
You yourself used numbers
a perfect fifth is 7st up
it doesnt matter if it says C +7 you will always play the perfect fifth off the key
see? ;)

Noone is asking anybody to change anything - we're "just sayin"
Please note the smileys here - I'm not trying to start an argument here.

EDIT:
If they would change it someone else wants the other thing again.
You're absolutely right about that!! :)

Manuel, is there a midi panic/kill button on Avenger? I'm getting hung notes due to the arp. I can replicate the issue every time. Do you have an email you'd like me to send the preset to so someone can look into it?

Edit: it seems to have something to do with the way some presets have the arp on/off button setup in the macro.

Post

Another quick question - can someone explain the arp on/off lighting status? I'm assuming the ring around the button is linked to the fact it can be switched on and off in the macros, but it seems to function differently on different presets.

I've RTFM, but it doesn't seemed to be explained anywhere. Also, I can only find the the manual for version 1.4.2...is there an up to date version of the manual anywhere?

Do you have an example? Impossible to tell what the issue is from the info you gave.
