lol Angela at Oktoberfest would be something to seeClaviFKER wrote: Thu Jun 11, 2020 11:49 am Bjorn and Urs are the coolest Germans.
I mean, Angela probably thinks she's the coolest, but she can't do synthesizers. Only bass patches after heavy Oktoberfest-ing.

it's not all uncommon. she just wears a disguise and they do "night specials" for her, when she can have a large stein of Warsteiner without everyone watching.
BTW, I know that Bjorn probably hates us for doing this, but the actual DW 8000... would be cool, yes. sorry Bjorn.

This is the same method MJ used when he was working on Anthony Marinelli's Thriller.

It's about time Korg recognized Björn for all his hard work! He's more productive than their Legacy team.

totally, he has produced a pretty impressive line of synths. Sometimes I forget how hard it must be to make these great instruments on your own. Definitely a labor of love.
Glad Korg themselves have given him some respect and send more synth lovers his way.

I don't have access to one anymore to compare note for note, but the instant I tried the first patch, I felt transported back to 1983. And a bunch of the presets are dead ringers for the originals. As Bjorn said, if you can tell the difference between the two, you're probably misremembering the original. And, frankly, as Bones claimed: if anything, it sounds better than the original. Given it's going through better processing here at home than the original ever could have, that's probably true. And it's never going to be as flaky as the original.wwjd wrote: Thu Jun 11, 2020 7:43 pm did you guys already cover this: is the sound accurate? Seriously curious
So I can't say it's 100% identical, but if there are differences, they're negligible.
Edited to add: There was a bit of note stealing going on with this that struck me as somewhat different from the original: my recollection is that Korg usually cut off the bass notes first, whereas Fury 800 seems to pull out of the middle. I could be wrong, of course, but since note stealing is often inevitable with an 8-note device, this wasn't a big deal to me. In fact, I forgot about it until just now. And since Fury 800 can go up to 64-note paraphony, I guess it doesn't matter.

It sounds like a cheap keyboard. This is one synth that was best left in history. I don't get the love for the Poly 800.CausticPuppy wrote: Fri Jun 05, 2020 1:03 am Finally! A virtual Poly 800. My parents had one when I was a kid.
So much nostalgia I had to dig up the factory demo sequence.

I'm already working on a new version that is even cheaper (i.e. closer to the original).
Cheers, Björn

Why did I miss this???
Searching for an emulation since ages...
This was done with the original and some environmental sounds...
The Poly-800 coming at around 2:20...

It was a cheap keyboard, but it also was my very first synth. And quite capable. Back then a velocity sensitive keyboard would have been beyond my financial capabilities. I found a way to play this dynamically by abusing its paraphony...v1o wrote: Sat Jun 13, 2020 2:47 pmIt sounds like a cheap keyboard. This is one synth that was best left in history. You could hunt a bug then. When playing it with my LinnStrument in MPE mode, which sends out all Midi on changing Midi channels. It seems to miss the note offs... As soon I play only on channel one, all is fine. I would still like to have it listen to all Midi channels...
The bend range reads out max 12. But it only bends to 6. 12 is better or what about going beyond the original and allow 24? The original manual states that the PB range isn't stored in the presets, but Fury seems to store it. I prefer its not stored, they had a reason for that...; - )
I think I still have some old cassettes with the sounds I made decades ago. Is there a way to read them in?
