Same code base... so no (not that 10.5.2 has been unstable for me)

I have Cubase on Mac, PC on Nuendo.Psuper wrote: Fri Jun 12, 2020 5:59 pm Question for anyone who owns both Cubase and Nuendo: If you do nothing but music, any reason to use Nuendo over Cubase?
When you say music, are you including scoring or just singles/albums etc?
For scoring there are a few (at least one anyway) feature on Nuendo that Cubase doesn't have as yet..... but for songs.....none that I can think of....(VCA is different on Nuendo than Cubase, and I personally prefer the one in Nuendo, but nothing you can't live without).

If you want to do music for games, like 7.1 surround, or VR, or games music as a job, you def want Nuendo’s feature set.
It’s been a while, Steinberg was talking about export of video. Nuendo has a post-production emphasis. If none of this speaks to you, you don’t need it.

thanks for the info, that’s a factor in updating for me. I have to re-render to get PCM audio into a video since they broke replace audio in video.

Great thanks, that's very helpful. Yes purely songwriting, and the more-than-often tinkering with sounds.zvenx wrote: Fri Jun 12, 2020 6:06 pmI have Cubase on Mac, PC on Nuendo.Psuper wrote: Fri Jun 12, 2020 5:59 pm Question for anyone who owns both Cubase and Nuendo: If you do nothing but music, any reason to use Nuendo over Cubase?

I saw this (for anyone else comparing), but wanted some additional specific feedback:
https://new.steinberg.net/nuendo/compare-editions/
Seems they should merge the two.
Have you tried Vital?

Welcome.
Some people have been calling for that for years, one Program with several tiers. Have my doubts if that will happen, at least anytime soon.
I know why they like them separate. Marketing...... Nuendo has a reputation in post world, but many everyday musicians are way more familiar with the name Cubase.

You can do all of that, even including VR in C10.5jancivil wrote: Fri Jun 12, 2020 6:41 pm If you want to do music for games, like 7.1 surround, or VR, or games music as a job, you def want Nuendo’s feature set.

Hi, I'm thinking of learning a new DAW and have an opportunity to get Nuendo 10 for cheaper than Cubase, i'm so tempted
A couple of questions for users.
How is Nuendo's CPU performance? (i'm on mac)
Can it open Cubase projects?
Thanks in advance.

It opens Cubase projects with the same cpu performance.
CPU performance for any DAW, a user would wish it was better. They say Reaper is the best, Too ugly and awkward for me to scientifically compare.
I would say the Cubendo CPU use has improved over the years... What Daw are you currently using?
