Hi everyone,

I have Cubase 10.5 and serious issues with vst instruments on iMac 27 2017 16gb ram, intel i5. Almost everytime I load any vst plugin and I play on my midi controller I see that midi data are incoming, but cannot hear anything for about 5-10 seconds and then suddenly I hear like 10-20 notes/voices at once I just played. Also it happens when I change presets. It doesn't matter if it's small, cpu efficient plugin or more demanding ones. Its serious audio problem for me. I tried other DAWs like Logic, Reaper,FLStudio and none of them have this issue.

Take a look at my audio settings:

Does anybody know how to solve this issue? I tried everything, I changed latency, priorities, etc. Its all the same. Also in meantime I reinstalled system two times and It didnt' help either.

Hi, OF course Built in Audio will be problematic..... but I thikn the issue may be your Audio Priority set at Boost?
click th set to Defaults open and try that....

That's interesting, because built-in audio works flawlessly with Logic, Reaper, FL Studio, basically any DAW I tried so far...
Defaults were before and because It didn't work I changed to boost to fix it, but I still have this issue.

I used (MBP) onboard audio for years w. Cubase and Nuendo; high latency, yes, but this scenario, nothing even resembling it.
and I’m talking def weaker machines than yours.

Boost uses more resources, the opposite of what you want.

Turn off ASIO Guard and see if this improves a bit.

Ultimately, no one can sort you away from your system, which clearly has problems, this is far from normal. Some component(s) there is/are causing *realtime* bottlenecks.

Sorry.
This is my set up and apart of course from the Hardware, and the Audio Boost it looks the same.

Can I see a screen shot of your Midi Port setup?

IME, if your buffers = 2048, this tends to be worse than 1024 w. Cubendo.

Post

Yeah maybe he should send us a screen shot of his Build in Audio Setup? Does that allow you to change the buffer?

I set settings to defaults.
I have found another option that set latency, I increased from 256 to 512 samples. But seriously I have impression it's all same :(

BTW: In Logic I have 128, but not sure if these units are equal.

your latency is insane for 512

Post

Really Odd, I do expect high latency but not bunched up notes. Sorry.
What is your midi controller?

Should it be lower or higher?

and now I have this when I was changing Spire presets. It might be not to Cubase related (plugin itself) but I have impression that this DAW is kind of unstable on my Mac.

My Logic settings, all works just perfect:

Is actually default settings, never touched it.
Latency is way lower and midi/audio is handled perfectly.

I have seen latency around that high, but my thought immediately went to 2048 buffers. Far lower at 512.

Do this for now, may be irrelevant, but delete Preferences. Your user name/Preferences, scroll down a ways. Copy things you can't stand to lose, but remove the lot
