I just need a voice input mic occasionally. So I'm thinking something like this:
https://www.thomann.de/gb/behringer_xm8500_bundle.htm

It's cheap enough I'd not even think about it but if anyone's going to say "don't even think about it!!" and give a damn good reason, now's the chance :D

The only things to consider, as far as I can think, are:
- it's going to be used possible whilst I'm using my eKit (AlternateMode TrapKAT)
- I'm not going to be singing (really... please...)
- it'll be plugged into my UAD-2 as the only audio input

I'm after a simple "it should just work" solution and this looked "good enough".

If you can afford nearly 2000 turnips on some drum trigger pads, then why skimp on a simple mic.
With the set parts deducted, this mic is like only ten turnips. Compare that to this:

Can't go wrong with a Shure SM58, it does "just work" and is well know for it's durability.

In English, please.

I'm a drummer that needs voice input for saying "Hello" and "Goodbye" occasionally. OK, it'll probably be a bit more "so, what do you folks want to play..?"
I was tempted, I have to say - but can I really say I need to spend nearly five times as much (okay, the postage evens it out a lot)?
https://www.thomann.de/gb/the_tbone_mb_85_beta_set.htm gets some good reviews, "They are robust and absolutely fantastic value at less than 33% of the price of the model they are copying" and such. Even that's pushing my price range.

Yes, but I don't need durability for a mic that will sit in my living room and get used three times a week - at most.

Moving in the right direction. This one has an on/off switch, half the price, but no bundle:

I have an XM8500, it is supurb. Built like a tank, so ideal for drummers- its 90% of an SM58 for 20% of the price.
If you don't want the Mike to pick up your drums and dont have someone on the desk, an on off switch may well be an issue however! I second the https://www.thomann.de/gb/t-bone_mb85.htm and th3ey have bundle options (but not as good as that X8500 bundle, so it realy all comes down to if you need the on/off switch!)
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

If you mean that literally, a supercheap gooseneck mic with base makes more sense than a stage mic that will need paraphernalia like a stand, mic lead etc.

Otherwise, cheap handheld mics are usually easy to find second hand. Since anything will do for you your intended use, just buy whatever you come across.

I mean that pretty literally. It's a voice mic for "stage chat", no more. Virtual jams where you're not in the same room are helped by a voice sometimes (especially when sometime others don't read the text chat).

Setting up the mixer (I've an eighty-odd channel mixer in Reaper) to control the mic over OSC won't take very long (little bit of fiddling with an existing button, change the input of a channel to be from the Audio In on the UAC-2). I don't see a need for an on/off switch - that I do virtually with inputs from different virtual jam sites, just slightly altered routing.

OK, I've undercut even the original on cost and quality now :D

Benefit: it's in stock and can be delivered this week. And costs £10 less than the XM8500. Essentially, if it's no good, I feel I'm not losing much; if it's OK, it'll probably do until it breaks, at which point I can consider something better.
