goa ain' t trance...goa is an island and also a name that sums up the different kinds of psytrance to make it easy for kiddies wanting to buy the next "Goa Head" compialtion (yes there are CD's with that name) It's called goa because that kind of buddist connected hippie music started on the island of Goa.

Really...Psytrance or "psycadelic-trance" is the real name of it...progressive trance also is loosley connected to it.

I wouldn't narrow it down to genres tho and more and more kids are getting into the whole psycadelical thing...there's no real "grown-up" thing about psy other than that it's really smart...something most kidds are not. Psy f**king rules...it has the intenisty of sex and the maddnes of a guy in a straitjacket! Pure mindmusic and you can stomp to it till your feet bleed!

Hah, no. That would be the newer generation of psy-trance. All the trance newies most often dispise 'goa trance' as they feel the spiritual compound of the music is too strange, or not clubby enough.

"Hey, have you heard Goa? He's good!"

WTF? obvioulsy the guy hadn't a clue but others are just as clueless...Goa is as much a style as "electronic music" is ...Most ppl call everything they hear with some synths on it and a wailing vocal techno. Techno is also a genre that is totally dif from the rest of the electronic music styles yet ppl refer to it as it's everything electronic.

You shouldn't trust what the CD cover tells you either... Look at any trance compilation and you'll see that the cover says it's the ultimate "trance-techno-whatever" but most of the times you get nothing but pap...commersial pap too...See what I'm talking about?

I don't question your knowledge mate, it's just that it's irritating when ppl are so cluless and throw buzzwords around because it's cool.

I agree with you, mindless.

Sure you should never trust a CD as to what the text says. But when you got label titles such as Flying Rhino, Dragonfly, Phonokol, Twisted, Spirit Zone, and Blue room swirling around the cover. You should know it's authentic. The later Goa Head series are kinda crappy... Which you may be referring too. I got the ones from back in 97-98.

There are alot of misinformed people... But we all are to start. All we can do is try to guide them.
