How do you like drum editing in Logic? I'm asking on behalf of someone else who is struggling with no grid editor. Is it true there is no grid editor? Do you have a solution, work around or anything that makes this a non issue for you (apart from just using the piano roll obviously)?

there's a few ways in logic to do drums. the step editor and the pattern editor.. it's a pattern sequencer. quite flexible. the step editor you have to configure yourself by adding lanes and picking notes etc but you can also edit all kinds of midi data that way so can sequence midi CC etc.. the event list allows all midi data in one window so you can get all tracker like that way.

but the new pattern editor is probably most straightforward and dedicated for that kind of thing. just right click or control click on an instrument or midi track and 'create pattern region'

That doesn't look bad to me. Are there any problems with it that make it difficult? Do you have any setup time or can you save a template for something like Superior Drummer?
